Who selects the nominated projects to be considered as finalists?
A selection committee comprised of representatives of The Home Depot Canada Foundation and a committee of selected associates from The Home Depot stores in Quebec will evaluate nominated projects [based on the criteria outlined below] to determine which projects will be selected and made available for public voting.
How will the nominated projects be evaluated?
Nominated projects will be evaluated based on a number of factors, including, but not limited to:
Community Impact - will the project make a measurable and meaningful difference to a population in need in the local community?
Volunteer Engagement - does the project offer ample and reasonable opportunities to involve The Home Depot associate volunteers?
Creativity - is the project unique? Does it involve a creative or innovative solution to a community need?
(A representative from the selection committee will contact you (by email) to let you know if your project has been selected to advance to the Voting Phase. Only nominators of projects that are selected to proceed to the Voting Phase will be contacted.)
Voting Phase:
After the selection committee narrows down the list of eligible projects, selected nominations will be placed on cestbeau.info for public voting.
All eligible participants (including persons who nominated a project and members of the registered charity are eligible to vote.
Voting will take place between 6:00 a.m. April 4th and 11:59 p.m. EST April 24th, 2012.
You are encouraged to tell your family, friends and neighbours to vote for your project. You can generate votes by posting it on Facebook, Twitter and other online communities.
There is a limit of one vote per person per day. Use of automated devices is prohibited; automated votes (including but not limited to votes submitted using any robot, script, macro, or other automated service) are not permitted and may result in disqualification.
Selected Projects:
The selection committee will tally the votes and select a minimum of 10 and a maximum of 22 projects to complete. The actual number of projects completed will depend on the number and quality of submissions received.
If there is a tie and only one of the projects can be completed the tie will be broken by a random draw conducted by an impartial member of the Foundation.
By May 17th, the projects receiving the highest number of eligible votes will be announced. The Home Depot associates (Team Depot) will then get in touch with each of the nominators and/or the charitable organization leading the project to outline the parameters of the project and schedule the project completion date.
Project Completion:
During the month of September, the projects receiving the highest number of eligible votes will be completed with support from local The Home Depot store associates as part of the Team Depot program.
