The Home Depot’s Buy Online, Pick Up In-Store option offers you the convenience of shopping for regular in-store stocked products online but saves you the shipping charges associated with home delivery. It also helps expedite any time-sensitive projects since there’s no need for you to find and pay for your product(s); when you arrive at the store everything will be ready for you at the Special Services desk.

Product Exclusions Include (but are not limited to): live goods, special order products, reconditioned products, cut products, nuts ‘n bolts, appliances, assembled options, custom SKUs, mixed paint, special offers with limited inventory, products that are exclusively available for direct-to-home delivery.

In order to see if your product is eligible for the Buy Online Pick Up In-Store option, please check for the Pick up in store button on the product information page.

Just follow these easy steps:

  • Place your order on homedepot.ca.
  • Choose the Pick Up In-Store option during checkout and select your desired store location for order pick-up.
  • You will receive two (2) separate emails - an initial Order Confirmation email acknowledging receipt of your order, followed by an In-Store Order Pick-Up Notification email when your order is ready at a Home Depot location.
  • Bring your In-Store Order Pick-Up Notification email, your order number and a government-issued photo ID to Home Depot to pick up your order.

In-store pick-up is valid only:

  • At the specific store selected when the order is placed.
  • During store business hours. Please confirm store hours of your selected Home Depot location prior to pick-up.
  • For orders confirmed via In-Store Order Pick-Up Notification email.

What are the features and benefits of ordering items online and then picking up my order(s) at a Home Depot store?

The Home Depot's Buy Online, Pick Up In-Store option provides you with the convenience of placing an order on homedepot.ca for regular in-stock product and picking up your order at a Home Depot store location. If you are unable to pick up an order yourself, you may also pre-authorize someone to pick up your order for you. This service not only saves you shipping charges, but also helps expedite any time-sensitive projects.

How does the Buy Online, Pick Up In-Store process work?

The Home Depot's Buy Online, Pick Up In-Store option offers you the convenience of placing an order on homedepot.ca for regular in-stock product and picking up your item(s) at a Home Depot store location. This feature not only saves you shipping charges, but also helps you expedite any time-sensitive projects. When you arrive at the store, stop by the Special Services desk for assistance with order pick-up.

  1. Place your order on homedepot.ca.
  2. Choose the Pick Up In-Store option during checkout and select your desired store location for order pick-up.

In-Store Pick-Ups are not valid at Garden Centres or with Garden Centre-only stores during Statutory/Civic holidays.

How soon will my order be ready for pick-up after I've ordered it online?

Most items will be ready for pick-up within two hours of the time the order was placed. Specific items may take longer due to inventory and/or availability. Please wait for your In-Store Order Pick-Up Notification email before visiting the store for order pick-up.

Why do I need to provide my phone number when placing an order online?

Most items will be ready for in-store pick-up within two hours of the time you place your order on homedepot.ca. However, if for some reason there is an issue with a specific store's inventory, a store associate may need to reach you directly to provide additional information about your order.

How will I know my order is ready for pick-up?

You will receive two (2) separate email communications from The Home Depot. After you receive your initial Order Confirmation Notification, you will receive an In-Store Order Pick-up Notification letting you know your order is ready along with pick-up instructions. You'll need to bring the In-Store Order Pick-up Notification email with you to The Home Depot to pick up your order.

Where should I go to pick up my order once I arrive at the store?

Once you arrive at the store, you can pick up your order at the Special Services desk.

What do I need to bring to the store to pick up my order(s)?

For easy order pick-up, please bring the following with you to the store:

  • A piece of government-issued photo ID
  • The order number
  • The In-Store Order Pick-Up Notification email

What if I can't pick up my order at the store and need to send someone to pick up my order for me?

For your protection, only you or a pre-authorized pick-up person may retrieve your order. During online checkout, simply provide the full name of the person who will pick up your order. Providing this information allows us to verify that the person picking up the order has been authorized by you to do so.
Your designated pick-up person will need to bring the following to the store:

  • A piece of government-issued photo ID
  • The order number
  • The In Store Order Pick-up Notification email

Once my order is ready, how long will it be available at the designated store for pick-up?

Your order will be available for in-store pick-up for seven (7) days from the date the order is ready. For your protection, if your complete order is not picked up within this timeframe, we'll cancel the order and issue a refund based on the original form of payment.

Is the Buy Online, Pick Up In-Store option available at my local Home Depot store?

Currently, this service is only available at certain store locations and for select products. Click the 'Check Store Inventory' button underneath the price on the product information page to check if the product is available for pick-up at your local store. You may also change your delivery method to Pick Up In-Store from within the cart when available.

What if I need to change or cancel my order?

We hope you are completely satisfied with your order, but if you need to cancel any item(s), let us know. For your convenience, you can cancel items by contacting a homedepot.ca Customer Care Representative at 1 800 628-0525, Monday through Saturday 8 a.m. - 11 p.m. EST and Sunday 10 a.m. - 10 p.m. EST.

What if I need to return an item(s) I ordered?

To return any item(s), simply bring your order receipt to any Home Depot store location. Please refer to The Home Depot's current return policy for details.


Returning online orders is free at any Home Depot store within Canada

For your convenience, items purchased on homedepot.ca can be returned to any of our Canadian stores within 90 days of purchase. Bring the item(s) with a copy of your shipping confirmation email to your local The Home Depot store for credit to your original tender or a The Home Depot store credit. Online returns can also be made by calling 1-800-628-0525 within 90 days of purchase. We'll arrange for your item to be picked up and returned, as well as provide you with a return authorization number (RA#).
