About Eco Options

Since 2004, The Home Depot Canada's Eco Options brand has helped consumers identify home improvement products that are better choices for the environment.

With many products available online and in-store, Eco Options empowers consumers to make a difference in their homes and helps transform the market for a more sustainable future.

What Makes an Eco Options Product?
Eco Options products must have a lower impact on the environment than standard products in the same category and/or allow consumers to reduce their environmental impact through the product's use.

All Eco Options products fall under one of the following categories:

  • Energy Efficiency
  • Sustainable Forestry
  • Water Conservation
  • Clean Air
  • Healthy Home

Environmental Standards
There are several certifications that are accepted into the program: ENERGY STAR®, WaterSense, EcoLogo, Forest Stewardship Council (FSC), Organic Materials Research Institute (OMRI) and Design for Environment (DfE). Products that do not meet the certifications above are evaluated by third party experts.
