Initiatives

As the charitable arm of The Home Depot Canada, The Home Depot Canada Foundation is committed to using its skills, knowledge and resources to build affordable, sustainable housing and vibrant, environmentally responsible communities for Canadians.

Bringing together volunteerism, do-it-yourself expertise, product donations and monetary grants, the Foundation supports this commitment through its grant programs, national partnerships and volunteer efforts, including:

• Promoting the importance of environmental responsibility by supporting Canadian charitable organizations undertaking affordable, sustainable housing initiatives and local neighbourhood improvement projects through its Affordable Housing and Community Grants program.

• Supporting affordable, sustainable housing, urban stewardship and community beautification and conservation programs through national partnerships with organizations such as Habitat for Humanity, Evergreen, Boys and Girls Clubs of Canada and The Great Canadian Shoreline Cleanup.

• Volunteering more than 60,000 hours of hands-on service while working on community projects across Canada through Team Depot, The Home Depot's associate volunteer force. Many of these projects focus on improving the local environment through participation in litter clean-ups, tree plantings and restoration projects.

• Diverting more than $3.5 million in products annually from landfills through its partnership with Habitat for Humanity ReStores.
