Casino Night FUNdraiser's success means support for communities across Canada
Thank you to all The Home Depot suppliers who participated in our Casino Night FUNdraiser on November 29th. Together we raised more than $200,000! The proceeds from this event will help meet important needs in communities across Canada. Thank you again to our supplier community for your generosity.
2011 Successes the Result of Collaboration
The Home Depot Canada Foundation thanks all of our supporters and national partners for another year of great accomplishments that are allowing us to build strong, sustainable communities across Canada.
In 2011, with your generous support we:
- Issued 120 Community Grants to Canadian charitable organizations in support of affordable housing initiatives and/or local neighbourhood improvement projects that incorporated environmentally responsible practices.
- Presented seventeen Canadian registered charities with $25,000 grants to complete affordable housing renovation projects that incorporated energy efficient building techniques and/or materials.
- Remained the largest supporter of Habitat for Humanity in Canada, donating over $4 million in funding, product and volunteer hours to affordable housing projects across the country.
- Provided 15 communities across Canada with the funding, tools, materials and volunteers needed to complete urban stewardship projects through the Rebuilding Nature Grant Program with Evergreen.
- Completed four project days at Evergreen Brick Works thanks to the efforts of Team Depot associates.
- Granted ten Boys and Girls Clubs with the support needed to complete projects that involved more than 1,800 youth, made a positive environmental impact on their facility and/or helped raise awareness about an environmental issue in their community.
- Mobilized Team Depot associates at 41 shoreline cleanup events as part of The Great Canadian Shoreline Cleanup
- Partnered with Volunteer Canada to support and encourage The Home Depot associates to volunteer more than 60,000 hours on community projects through Team Depot
Celebration of Service
This September, The Home Depot celebrated its ninth annual Celebration of Service, a volunteer campaign delivered by Team Depot associates across Canada. Celebration of Service sees The Home Depot associates from all across Canada contributing their time and hands-on expertise to complete projects that make a difference in their community.
Throughout our Celebration of Service, Team Depot associates contributed more than 20,000 hours of service to improving communities across Canada – from cleaning up shorelines to creating community gardens to supporting affordable housing projects.
Congratulations to all The Home Depot associates who took part in this years’ campaign! Together we are helping to make our neighbourhoods better places to live, work and play.

Go Low Flow event promotes water conservation
The Home Depot Canada Foundation is proud to be the recipient of net proceeds from the 2011 'Go Low Flow' water conservation promotion made possible by American Standard at The Home Depot Canada Stores. Proceeds will help fund community beautification initiatives and energy efficiency improvement projects in affordable housing dwellings across Canada as part of our commitment to making our communities healthier to live in.
Charity Golf Classic a big success
Thank you to more than 450 participants who took part in the 2011 The Home Depot Charity Classic on August 17th at Angus Glen in Markham, Ontario. Together we raised more than $1-million making it our most successful event to date! The proceeds from this event will help meet important needs in communities across Canada. Thank you again to our supplier community or your generosity.
Celebration of Service campaign allows The Home Depot associates to give back from coast-to-coast!
This September, The Home Depot Canada will celebrate its 9th annual Celebration of Service campaign. Celebration of Service is a month long national campaign that pays tribute to the many dedicated The Home Depot associate volunteers who commit to making a difference in their community. Each year, The Home Depot associates contribute over 60,000 hours of hands-on volunteer service to complete hands-on projects in their community through Team Depot, The Home Depot's volunteer program.
Cleaning up shorelines across Canada
The Home Depot Canada Foundation is pleased to support The Great Canadian Shoreline Cleanup, a direct action conservation campaign that encourages Canadians to rehabilitate shoreline areas through cleanups. Associates from The Home Depot stores across the country will be participating in this week-long event, September 17 – 25, to help keep our parks and shorelines clean of debris. Buy a Hammer, Build Our Community campaign an astounding success
The Buy a Hammer, Build Our Community campaign ran in all The Home Depot stores across Canada from June 2nd to July 3rd. Thank you to all customers who supported this initiative. Funds raised will be used to support affordable, sustainable housing projects and local neighbourhood improvement in your community. The Home Depot Canada Foundation is accepting applications for its Community Grants Program. This program provides grants of up to $5,000 to support small-scale community space or affordable housing projects that include sustainable building techniques and/or materials. It also provides grants for beautification and conservation projects/programs.

2011 Growing Greener Communities Grant Program Recipients
The Home Depot Canada Foundation is pleased to announce the recipients of the 2011 Growing Greener Communities Grant Program in partnership with Boys and Girls Clubs of Canada. This program provides monetary and where possible, volunteer support to allow Boys and Girls Clubs to provide vibrant, environmentally responsible gathering spaces for children to thrive in. This includes support for projects that have a positive impact on a Boys and Girls Club facility and/or programs that raise awareness about a local environmental issue.
