Go Low Flow event promotes water conservation
The Home Depot Canada Foundation is proud to be the recipient of net proceeds from the 2011 'Go Low Flow' water conservation promotion made possible by American Standard at The Home Depot Canada Stores. Proceeds will help fund community beautification initiatives and energy efficiency improvement projects in affordable housing dwellings across Canada as part of our commitment to making our communities healthier to live in.
Charity Golf Classic a big success
Thank you to more than 450 participants who took part in the 2011 The Home Depot Charity Classic on August 17th at Angus Glen in Markham, Ontario. Together we raised more than $1-million making it our most successful event to date! The proceeds from this event will help meet important needs in communities across Canada. Thank you again to our supplier community or your generosity.
Celebration of Service campaign allows The Home Depot associates to give back from coast-to-coast!
This September, The Home Depot Canada will celebrate its 9th annual Celebration of Service campaign. Celebration of Service is a month long national campaign that pays tribute to the many dedicated The Home Depot associate volunteers who commit to making a difference in their community. Each year, The Home Depot associates contribute over 60,000 hours of hands-on volunteer service to complete hands-on projects in their community through Team Depot, The Home Depot's volunteer program.
Cleaning up shorelines across Canada
The Home Depot Canada Foundation is pleased to support The Great Canadian Shoreline Cleanup, a direct action conservation campaign that encourages Canadians to rehabilitate shoreline areas through cleanups. Associates from The Home Depot stores across the country will be participating in this week-long event, September 17 – 25, to help keep our parks and shorelines clean of debris. Buy a Hammer, Build Our Community campaign an astounding success

The Home Depot associates "Resolved to Get Involved"
February 21-25 was Resolve to Get Involved week organized by Volunteer Canada, one of The Home Depot Canada Foundation's national partners. Teams of The Home Depot associates in Vancouver, Toronto, Ottawa and Montreal took on tasks such as painting, serving meals, organizing books and delivering furniture.
"We were involved with this event last year as well and we had a great time," said Rick Palmer, Assistant Store Manager at The Home Depot Kanata, in Ottawa. "We helped to deliver furniture and household items to refugees recently arrived in our community. These families have escaped many atrocities in their home countries and we were happy to give them a warm Ottawa welcome."
The Home Depot Canada Foundation is pleased to renew its partnership with Volunteer Canada in 2011. Through this partnership, we help support the development of Canada's volunteer sector as a way of contributing to ongoing improvements in our communities.

Community Grant Program Provides Funding for Housing Charities
The Home Depot Canada Foundation is pleased to award $25,000 grants to support two commercial kitchen projects.
The grant provided to Eva's Initiatives (a Toronto-based organization that provides safe shelter and a range of services to create long-term solutions for homeless youth) will support the development of a commercial-style kitchen. A food program, organized around making healthy food choices and developing food preparation skills will be delivered from the kitchen. The space will also permit large group meals which will save on costs and allow residents to dine together.
Inn from the Cold Society (a provider of emergency shelter and programs to homeless children, families and others in need in Calgary, AB) will use the funds they received to upgrade their existing kitchen space with elements that will reduce both their impact on the environment and their operating costs. This includes replacing energy efficient appliances, lighting and fixtures as well as the installation of a high grade ventilation and air exchange system.
$1-Million Commitment
The Home Depot Canada and The Home Depot Canada Foundation are pleased to announce their $1-million commitment to support the ongoing development of Evergreen Brick Works, a community centre that will offer year-round environmentally-focused activities, workshops, and programs to Toronto-area residents.
In addition to the monetary support provided, The Home Depot associates from across Toronto will lend their skills, knowledge and resources to completing a series of small projects that will support the sites continued growth over the next five years.

New Conservation Program Partnership
The Home Depot Canada Foundation is pleased to announce its support for the 2010 Great Canadian Shoreline Cleanup taking place between September 18th and 26th. Led by the Vancouver Aquarium, The Great Canadian Shoreline Cleanup is a national conservation program that aims to educate Canadians about shoreline litter issues by engaging them in local shoreline cleanup initiatives. In addition to the Foundation's monetary and product contributions, The Home Depot associates will support cleanup efforts at select sites across Canada this fall.

The Home Depot Canada Foundation is pleased to offer a new program in partnership with Boys & Girls Clubs of Canada. The program will provide a number of Boys & Girls Club locations across Canada with grants to complete projects that will provide an environmental benefit to their community facility. This includes outdoor beautification projects, environmental education programs and energy efficient upgrades (windows, lighting, appliances, etc). Successful grant recipients will be announced in the coming months.
The Home Depot Canada Foundation would like to thank Citi Cards Canada Inc. for encouraging The Home Depot Canada Consumer Credit Card customers to help the environment by switching to electronic statements through its online billing program.
Each time a customer changes to online billing, Citi makes a donation to The Home Depot Canada Foundation. Funds generated are used to support the Foundation's national community partners like Evergreen.
Volunteer Canada is the national body that advocates that volunteer involvement is essential to building strong, healthy communities. The Council is pleased to announce the launch of the Centre for Excellence in Corporate Community Involvement, a social networking tool that allows non-profit and for-profit organizations to share best practices and discover new ideas in four main areas - Information, Curriculum, Research & Best Practices, and Consultation & Support.

As the founding and exclusive home improvement retail partner of KaBOOM! in Canada, The Home Depot has invested over $3 million and 40,000 volunteer hours in 66 play spaces across the country.
We are pleased to announce that beginning in 2009, playground builds will be supported by The Home Depot Canada Foundation as part of our commitment to building vibrant, environmentally responsible communities for Canadians. This year, playground builds will take place in Montreal, Toronto and Vancouver.
Each play space will incorporate environmentally sustainable build practices and eco-friendly side projects such as native plant, vegetable and herb gardens, rainwater collection systems and composting systems. These projects will add vividness to each play space and provide ongoing benefits to the community members who use them.
