what we do
National Community Partners
Although The Home Depot Canada Foundation is a new initiative, The Home Depot Canada has a long history of supporting community projects with grants, materials and volunteer help. In addition to supporting hundreds of local projects, we are proud to work with a number of national community partners who help us from coast to coast – building homes for those in need; creating and restoring much-needed community green spaces; creating healthy outdoor play spaces for families, and encouraging all Canadians to become active volunteers in their communities.
Our national community partners include:
- Habitat for Humanity Canada

- Since 1996, The Home Depot has been the largest supporter of Habitat for Humanity in Canada and currently donates over $3 million in funding and product as well as thousands of volunteer hours each year to affordable housing projects. Throughout 2009, The Home Depot supported more than 40 Habitat for Humanity projects, focusing on the creation of sustainable, energy-efficient homes that provide lasting benefits to families in need.
- KaBOOM!

- As the founding and exclusive partner of KaBOOM! in Canada, The Home Depot has invested over $3 million and more than 43,000 volunteer hours in support of building new play spaces since 1997. To date, The Home Depot Canada has built 69 playgrounds and ice rinks in communities across the country.
- Evergreen

- Since 2005, The Home Depot Canada has worked with Evergreen to provide 104 communities across Canada with the funding, tools, materials and volunteers needed to complete urban stewardship projects through the Rebuilding Nature Grant Program. The Home Depot employees also lead and participate in projects throughout the year to enhance community spaces through litter clean-ups, tree plantings and restoration projects.
- Volunteer Canada

- In 2005, The Home Depot partnered with Volunteer Canada to form Canada's first Corporate Council on Volunteering. Annette Verschuren, President of The Home Depot Canada and Asia, co-chairs the Council, which consists of more than 20 corporate leaders from a variety of industries across Canada. In 2006, the Council created the Corporate Challenge on Volunteering, which is the largest initiative to promote volunteerism within Canadian companies.
- Boys & Girls Clubs of Canada

- The Home Depot Canada has been proud to support the local projects of Boys & Girls Clubs across Canada with material and volunteer support for many years.
In 2009, The Home Depot Canada and Boys & Girls Clubs of Canada solidified a partnership as part of their collective goal to provide healthy gathering spaces for children to thrive in. As such, The Home Depot will provide cash and gift card grants to Boys & Girls Clubs that are completing a project that will have a positive environmental impact on their facility and/or raise awareness about an environmental issue in their community.
