Proceeds from the sale will support the Daily Bread Food Bank, the hub of the food bank community in Toronto that supports over 160 member agencies in running a series of food relief programs.

Team Depot associates in Duncan, BC jumped into action this week as two rainstorms pummeled the region causing extreme flooding that led the province to declare a state of emergency and caused hundreds of residents to be evacuated from their homes.
After the first storm, associates created and stacked 5,000 sandbags to protect affected homes from the surging flood waters. Just days later, they were back at work in the Nanaimo region where a second storm was wrecking havoc. Additional sandbags, cases of water and clean up supplies were provided to residents impacted in this area.
Tim Robinson, The Home Depot Duncan Store Manager said, "our associates exemplified The Home Depot's core values by assisting local residents, even if it meant standing in frigid, waist-deep water for hours stacking sandbags. I couldn't be more proud of their collective efforts."

Fall was a busy time for more than fifteen associates at The Home Depot Saint John store when they volunteered close to 150 hours to make improvements at Hestia House, a transitional house and support centre for women and children. Together they completed a series of small projects in the facility's lower level bathroom and bedrooms including electrical and plumbing repairs. They also gave many of the rooms a fresh coat of paint.
Tia Gorman, Human Resources Manager at the Saint John store notes, "Women experiencing spousal abuse need a safe place to go. Our associates take comfort knowing that the repairs they made to the space will make this house safe and comfortable for those who need it most."
Hestia House receives government funding and support from the United Way but depends on contributions from local businesses and individuals to remain operational. The Home Depot Saint John store and a number of their supplier partners will help Hestia House with ongoing facility repairs in the coming months as part of their commitment to giving back to the community.

Recently, The Home Depot Canada Foundation provided Habitat for Humanity Toronto with a Sustainable Housing Grant that will support two developments and will provide 49 local families with homes that are healthy to live in and affordable to own. The grant has multiple components including cash, gift card and product as well as volunteer support provided by Team Depot, The Home Depot Canada's associate volunteer force.
In November, The Home Depot associates from across Toronto volunteered over 600 hours at two of Habitat for Humanity Toronto's current build sites. At the William's Way site, associates focused on getting homes enclosed to allow winter construction to continue. Meanwhile, at the Hainford Street site, associates used their know-how to complete finishing touches on homes that will be presented to the partner families just in time for the holidays.
Associates will continue to support these projects as well as a new build on Kingston Road that will get underway in the New Year.

Recently, a group of The Home Depot associates spent a day helping the Conseil Régional de l'Environnement et du Développement Durable de l'Outaouais (CREDDO) restore a section of forest in Lac Beauchamp Park classified as an exceptional forest ecosystem. The group removed invasive species and planted native species in a way that limits the number of footpaths through the forest.
"Our parks and forests are precious so we have to do all we can to preserve them," says Sylvain Richard, Specialty Assistant Store Manager at The Home Depot Gatineau store. "Our associates were happy to give back to their community - and it's environment - by helping with this project."
CREDDO is one of 16 regional environmental councils in Quebec that promotes sustainability, preservation and conservation of natural resources in the Outaouais region. Their project was one of fifteen supported with a 2009 Rebuilding Nature grant through The Home Depot Canada Foundation's partnership with Evergreen.

Recently, many of Habitat for Humanity Regina's tools were stolen when someone broke into their site storage trailer. When Gail Nameth, Store Manager at the Regina NW The Home Depot store learned that insurance would only cover a portion of the cost required to replace the tools, she reached out immediately to offer help.
"Habitat for Humanity is such a critical resource to families in need who live in our city," said Gail. "We value our partnership with Habitat - especially the opportunities they provide to our associates to use their skills and know-how on build sites. It is very rewarding work."
Gail presented Chuck Beaton, Construction Manager for the affiliate with a $2,000 The Home Depot gift card so the affiliate can purchase some of the essential tools they need to keep their current home builds on track.
The Home Depot shares Habitat for Humanity's commitment to providing affordable homes for Canadian families in need. Since 1996, The Home Depot has been the largest supporter of Habitat for Humanity in Canada and currently donates over $3 million in funding and product as well as thousands of volunteer hours each year to Habitat's housing projects.

The Boys and Girls Clubs of Edmonton's Camp Discovery is a place that 300 inner city youth frequent each summer break to meet new friends, explore nature and learn new skills.
Due to the high volume of traffic this facility receives each year, there is always an ongoing list of repairs to be addressed. This fall, associates from eleven The Home Depot stores across Edmonton helped knock a few items off of the "to do" list by volunteering their time to re-shingle the roof and re-side the camp's dining and assembly hall. They also painted benches and picnic tables as well as groomed many trails around the camp in preparation for another busy camp season in 2010.
"All children deserve to have a great camp experience in their lifetime," said Jeff Tymo, Store Manager at the Sherwood Park, Alberta Home Depot store. "Now parents can rest assured that their kids have a safe place to socialize and learn in when they are away from home."
Jeff and colleague, Paddy O'Neill, Store Manager at the Edmonton Strathcona store organized this project as part of The Home Depot's Month of Service campaign in September.
Month of Service
This September, The Home Depot celebrated its seventh annual Month of Service, a volunteer campaign delivered by Team Depot associates across Canada. Month of Service encourages all The Home Depot associates to contribute their time and know-how to complete projects that make a difference in their community.
In September alone, Team Depot associates contributed more than 21,000 hours of service to improving communities across Canada during Month of Service - from building playgrounds to beautifying parks to supporting affordable housing projects!
Congratulations to all The Home Depot associates who took part in this years' campaign! Together we are making our communities a better place to live for everyone.

"We are always looking for opportunities to give back to the community," said Derek Nielsen, Store Manager. "It's a win-win situation - our associates feel good about their accomplishment, and local residents are provided an inviting space to gather."

Bow Cliff Seniors residence prides itself on its commitment to provide opportunities and active living for its occupants. Many residents have expressed an interest in gardening but limited time and resources have prevented the facility from creating one.
When staff began thinking of local businesses that could help them create a garden, The Home Depot immediately came to mind. They turned to The Home Depot Canada Foundation for funding and volunteer support and their wish was granted.
"Our associates were so happy to create this community garden," said Mike Simpson, Assistant Store Manager at the Calgary North Hills store. "With so many avid gardeners living here, it will no doubt get lots of use and care."
August 5
In August of 2008, a massive explosion at a north Toronto propane facility sent shockwaves through the surrounding community. The force of the blast damaged homes, forced the evacuation of thousands of residents and generated international media attention.
In the days following the disaster, associates from the Yorkdale and Caledonia The Home Depot stores mobilized to lead relief efforts, distributing plywood and clean-up supplies to hundreds of impacted residents.
One year later, The Home Depot illustrated its strong connection with the community. Associates from the stores initially involved along with additional associates from the Toronto and Atlanta Store Support Centres, recently returned to the neighborhood to improve a park that was closed for weeks following the blast.
"Our customers asked us to return and help improve Ancaster Park, an important gathering place for the community," said Steve Graseski, Yorkdale Store Manager. "We are thrilled to play an ongoing role in the community's recovery."
Associates built six planters and benches and painted the park's existing benches. In September, they will return to build a pergola, providing shade to park visitors.

The sun was shining on a quiet, residential street in Edmonton today as Habitat for Humanity Edmonton celebrated the completion of its 100th home.
Because The Home Depot was a major sponsor of the build, Paddy O'Neill, Store Manager of the Strathcona The Home Depot Store was given the honour of presenting keys to the recipient family - a much deserving mother and her two sons.
The Home Depot made both a financial and volunteer contribution to this milestone home build. More than two dozen staff volunteers from The Home Depot stores across the city gave time on their days off to take on everything from sanding drywall to painting. "Habitat for Humanity is big in Edmonton," said Paddy. "There's always lots of interest and we love to support it."

The Home Depot Bracebridge store and The Rotary Club of Bracebridge share a special relationship. Five years ago when the Club decided to create a destination garden to commemorate Rotary International's 100th anniversary, they asked local businesses for support and The Home Depot was one of the first to step up to the plate.
Since the garden officially opened in July 2005, The Home Depot associates from the Bracebridge store have returned to the garden to provide further enhancements under the leadership of the current Store Manager, Tom Heindl. Their projects included creating a lattice fence, developing a "Home Depot" garden (which has received several compliments) and hand building a composter for the site.
Stephen Newroth, Chair of the Rotary Gardens Operations Committee recently called out Tom's support for the Rotary Club and the Centennial Gardens project. "My thanks for your support and great community spirit."

When The Home Depot associate Gogoy "G" Reyes heard that the play structure at the Seven Oaks Village Housing Co-op in Winnipeg, MB was in need of a facelift, he was quick to investigate.
After a visit to the site, he realized it wouldn't take much to fix the structure and make additional enhancements to the space. "The more inviting an outdoor space looks, the more likely residents are to gather there," says G. "At The Home Depot, one of our core values is building strong relationships so it's a privilege to support community projects that encourage this behaviour."
In one day, G and 14 of his colleagues from the Winnipeg North The Home Depot store gave new life to the Co-op's play structure. They also created a sand box and garden for the residents to enjoy. "We hope the residents enjoy their outdoor space for years to come," noted G.

"It was a rewarding experience to present two Habitat partner families with the keys to their new homes", stated Jack Paul, Store Manager at The Home Depot L'Acadie store. This spring, twelve The Home Depot Canada associates partnered with Nature Conservancy of Canada (Atlantic Region) to build boardwalks as part of a walking trail preservation initiative.
The day-long event began with a hearty breakfast and trek to the Five Fathom Trail. Upon arrival, The Home Depot associates used their know-how to carefully move lumber that had previously been delivered to the site by boat, to three difficult-to-reach areas so the boardwalks could be constructed.
At the end of the day, a group of wet and very muddy volunteers headed home, laughing about the slipping, sliding and crawling they did to get the job done and satisfied with what they accomplished.
The Musquash Estuary Nature Preserve Trail project was one of fifteen urban stewardship projects that received a 2009 Rebuilding Nature grant through The Home Depot Canada Foundation's partnership with Evergreen.

The Home Depot associates at the Caledonia store were proud to transform a bleak Toronto school yard into a vibrant, welcoming park recently.
The greening project at C.E. Webster Public School complemented a playground that the Toronto District School Board installed in the junior kindergarten area earlier this year.
Ten The Home Depot associates placed trees, shrubs, annuals and perennials donated by two The Home Depot vendors strategically around the yard and added a vegetable garden to provide a learning opportunity for current and future students of the school.

Y.E.S.S. was awarded a community grant at the grand opening of the Edmonton Windermere store in late 2008 but The Home Depot's support didn't stop there. A group of The Home Depot associates spent a day giving one of Y.E.S.S.'s youth homes a makeover - fresh paint, new window treatments, and some small repairs.
The Edmonton Windermere store plans to help Y.E.S.S. transform a former local pub into a transitional home for youth later this year.
