Owens Corning Insulation

Owens Corning - Innovation for Living

Owens Corning® PINK™ FIBERGLAS® Insulation
Innovations for living.™
Available at The Home Depot.

Owens Corning is the inventor of energy-efficient PINK™ FIBERGLAS® Insulation. Use PINK™ insulation in exterior walls, basements and attics and save up to 28% on your energy bills.*

*Bill savings based on 1700 sq. ft. home and other "typical" assumptions. Actual savings will vary.

HOW DOES PINK™ FIBERGLAS® INSULATION WORK?

Between tangled strands of insulation, millions of tiny air pockets are formed. These trapped air pockets resist the passage of heat flow, reducing heat loss in the winter and heat gain in the summer. In general, the thicker the insulation, the more air pockets and the higher the R-value.

What is an R-value?
The R-value measures resistance to heat flow and is determined by the thickness and density of the insulation. The higher the
R-value, the greater the product's insulating power.

INSULATE YOUR ATTIC WITH AttiCat® EXPANDING BLOWN-IN INSULATION SYSTEM AND SAVE!

Insulating your attic with AttiCat Most roofs don't leak water, they leak money. Insulating your attic is the #1 way to save money on your heating and cooling costs. In addition, the safe and reliable Do-It-Yourself AttiCat® Expanding Blown-In Insulation System gives you the power and efficiency to insulate your attic over the course of one afternoon! Available at select The Home Depot Tool Rental Centres.

How It Works

  1. The blowing machine conditions the AttiCat® Expanding Blown-In PINK Fiberglas® insulation by breaking it up and fluffing it. This process adds tiny air pockets that give the material its insulating power.
  2. The insulation is conditioned further throughout the length of the hose and as it bounces its way up to your attic, more and more air pockets are added, increasing its insulating power.
  3. Since Fiberglas® insulation will not settle over time, it will keep its energy-saving R-value.

Is your attic costing you money?
If your attic floor is insulated but the wood beams (joists) are still visible, you probably don't have enough insulation. However, there is still no guarantee that you have enough insulation even if the beams are not visible. The best way to find out if your insulation needs are being met is by measuring (see Calculating Your Needs, below). For maximum energy efficiency, an insulation value of R-50 is recommended for attics (about 18.5" (470 mm) of AttiCat® loose fill insulation).

PINK IS GREEN™

* Bill savings based on 1700 sq. ft. home and other "typical" assumptions. Actual savings will vary.
Savings vary depending on the original amount of insulation in your home, climate, house size, air leaks, and personal energy use and living habits.
‡‡ Based on the average recycled glass content in all Owens Corning fibreglass batts, rolls and unbonded loosefill insulation manufactured in Canada.

HOW MANY PACKAGES WILL MY INSULATION PROJECT REQUIRE?

Complete the following steps to determine the amount of insulation required to add the perfect amount of energy efficiency and comfort to your space.

1. Total Area
Determine the area in square feet/metres to be insulated by multiplying the length by the width in feet or metres.
LENGTH _____ x WIDTH _____ = _____ FT2/M2

2. Width Of Insulation
Measure the distance between joists to determine the insulation width for the job.
DISTANCE BETWEEN JOISTS = _____ INCHES/MM

3. Choose Your Product
Determine which insulation product (R-value and width) is appropriate for your project (choose product width to match distance between joists).
PRODUCT WIDTH = _____ INCHES/MM

4. Calculate How Many Packages You Need
Divide total area in ft2/m2 to be insulated by the coverage area per package in ft2/m2. Round up to the next whole number to determine the total number of packages required.
TOTAL AREA IN FT2/M2_____ ÷ COVERAGE AREA IN FT2/M2 PER PKG. _____ = TOTAL NUMBER OF PACKAGES _____
