Adding Filtration to Your Pond

Project Overview

Adding Filtration to Your Pond

Adding filtration to your pond is easy and helps contribute to a balanced pond environment. There are several options available, including in-pond and external filtration for small to large ponds.

3 Steps

  1. CHOOSE THE APPROPRIATE FILTRATION FOR YOUR NEEDS
  2. CONNECT THE FILTER TO THE PUMP
  3. INITIATE WATER FLOW
CHOOSE THE APPROPRIATE FILTRATION FOR YOUR NEEDS

Step 1

CHOOSE THE APPROPRIATE FILTRATION FOR YOUR NEEDS

Choose the appropriate filter based on the intended placement and use (in-pond or external) and pond size and type. Refer to the packaging for specifics on pond volume and rate of flow. All pond filters available through The Home Depot include multi-stage mechanical and biological filtration.

CONNECT THE FILTER TO THE PUMP

Step 2

CONNECT THE FILTER TO THE PUMP

Depending on the make and model of pump, most filtration systems are easily adapted for use with any pump and will, in most cases, include the necessary components for connection. Follow the included instructions for specifics relating to the filtration of your choosing and carefully connect your pump to the filter.

INITIATE WATER FLOW

Step 3

INITIATE WATER FLOW

Once properly installed, a pond filter will improve water quality, protect your pump from debris and contribute to the overall health of your pond. If a drop in performance is noted over time, you may need to disassemble the unit and rinse the parts with water to remove debris or build-up. The documentation included with these products will walk you through the specific steps.
