Step 1

MAKE A BOX

Create a box using 1 x 6 x 6' pressure treated fence boards.

The outside measurement of our box is 44" x 14".

We cut 2 pieces at 44" for sides and 4 pieces 12-3/4" for top, bottom and dividers.

Cut boards to length.

MEASURE AND COUNTERSINK

Step 2

MEASURE AND COUNTERSINK

Measure to create three equal sections and then mark both side pieces so you know where to countersink.

Then countersink two holes on all 4 lines on both sides.

ASSEMBLE BOX

Step 3

ASSEMBLE BOX

Glue and screw the box together. Use outdoor wood glue and 3" ceramic coated deck screws.

CREATE FRAME

Step 4

CREATE FRAME

From a piece of 1 x 6 x 8' pressure-treated fence board, rip 2 pieces 2-1/2" x 8'. Then cut each board into 2 pieces with mitred corners (2 long side pieces, matching top and bottom pieces).

Frame the box flush with the inside edge, creating an overhang to the outside.

ATTACH FRAME

Step 5

ATTACH FRAME

Glue the front edge and the mitres and then attach frame to box with brad nails.

FILL AND SAND

Step 6

FILL AND SAND

Fill all nail holes and sand frame smooth.

FINISHING

Step 7

FINISHING

Prime and paint the frame.

ATTACH BRACKETS

Step 8

ATTACH BRACKETS

Attach wall-mounting brackets to top at the back of the frame.
