Using the table saw,
cut a groove in the face of each piece on its short side. The groove should be 3/4" from the edge and 3/4" deep.
Without changing the guide
on the table saw, turn the piece of wood so that the groove sits against the saw fence, and cut another groove so that the 2 grooves line up to form a notch.
the 4 pieces to form the square and apply glue to the corners. Drill and screw from each end through the join of the mitres using 2-1/2" screws.
Cut the corkboard
with a utility knife so you have a 16-1/2" square. When cutting the corkboard, cut through the front and make multiple passes, slowly working your way through the board to ensure a smooth cut.
