Create a Notice Board

This easy-to-construct cork board framed with vibrant wallpaper from eco-chic company Graham & Brown makes a style statement as well as being useful for the whole family.

Step 1

4 pieces 22" long from the 2x4, mitred at both ends so they form a square.

Using the table saw,

Using the table saw,

cut a groove in the face of each piece on its short side. The groove should be 3/4" from the edge and 3/4" deep.

on the table saw, turn the piece of wood so that the groove sits against the saw fence, and cut another groove so that the 2 grooves line up to form a notch.

Assemble

the 4 pieces to form the square and apply glue to the corners. Drill and screw from each end through the join of the mitres using 2-1/2" screws.

Reinforce each joint

with L brackets using 1-1/4" screws. Pre-drill before screwing.

Wrap the frame tightly

Wrap the frame tightly

with wallpaper using a staple gun to secure it on the back.

Cut the corkboard

Step 7

Cut the corkboard

with a utility knife so you have a 16-1/2" square. When cutting the corkboard, cut through the front and make multiple passes, slowly working your way through the board to ensure a smooth cut.

Step 8

Place the corkboard

in the frame. Secure with 1" finishing nails.
