Measure

Step 1

Measure

Measure the installation area to determine fit.

Step 2

Dry Fit Countertop

Place the countertop into position on the cabinetry. If there are no gaps in excess of 1/8" between the wall and countertop then proceed to step 5, otherwise continue to the next step.

Scribing the Countertop

Step 3

Scribing the Countertop

Find the area along the wall with the biggest gap and use this depth as your pencil offset from the wall when scribing. Run your pencil along the wall and mark the countertop with the wall's contour.

Cutting the Scribe Line

Step 4

Cutting the Scribe Line

Take the countertop away from the wall and block it up so the jigsaw blade will clear the cabinets. Cut along the scribe line and re-fit the countertop.

Fasten Countertop to Cabinets

Step 5

Fasten Countertop to Cabinets

Screw through the cabinet framing into the underside of the countertop making sure the length of screw is appropriate and won't come through the surface. Repeat for the length of the counter.

Caulking

Step 6

Caulking

Apply an even bead of caulking along the joint between the wall and countertop. Make sure to use a mildew resistant kitchen and bath caulking.
