Project Overview

Tile a Wall

Transform an ordinary wall with floor to ceiling tile. Laying a straight grid of uniform tiles is simplest, but you could also get creative with border tiles and interesting patterns.

7 Steps

  1. Measure
  2. Apply adhesive
  3. Install tile
  4. Apply grout
  5. Remove excess grout

Measure

Measure your wall space to determine the best fit for your tile.

Apply adhesive

Step 2

Apply adhesive

Apply wall tile adhesive to a small area. Don't try to work too far ahead or your adhesive may dry.

Install tile

Install tile

Ensuring that your tile is straight firmly press it into place.

Apply grout

Step 4

Apply grout

Mix grout in an appropriate bucket and apply to tile surface using a sweeping pattern on a 45-degree angle to tile joints.

Remove excess grout

Step 5

Remove excess grout

After allowing a few minutes for drying, fill a clean bucket with water and sponge the surface grout off the tile. Repeat until the tile surface is visibly clean.

Step 6

Dry wipe

When the grout is dry wipe down with a dry cloth.

Step 7

Caulk the Counter

Fill the corner between the counter and the tile using a mildew resistant caulk.
