Customer Reviews6-Year Whole House Salt-Free Water Softener is rated out of 5 by 55.Rated 1 out of 5 by JDelly from THIS IS NOT A WATER SOFTENER After a year of use, and not really noticing a hardness difference, I finally decided to test myself. My raw water shows 8gpg on the hardness scale. My Aquasana softened and filtered water shows 8gpg as well. Essentially the water softener is not softening my water. After reading in detail the supposed benefits of this product, I see claims that this should prevent scale build up. However, this is also not true. I have used this water in expensive humidifiers only to find that there is massive scale build up which has damaged the units. Additionally, I purchased an air quality monitor which shows me that running the humidifiers with this water puts out over 500pm2.5 in dust particles. My family has been sick all winter and now I finally understand why. I switched to store bought distilled water in my humidifiers and now the dust doesn't even register and my family is breathing better. Calling this product a water softener is frankly false advertising.Date published: 2019-02-03Rated 5 out of 5 by Gerry W from Great tasting water! Installation was straight forward, but the instructions leave a lot to be desired, ie. all there is, is a picture of the completed install. Very few instructions. It would be helpful to show the plumbing "behind" the wall. That picture is far from a "normal" install. We flushed the tanks as directed, but after installing, there was still a significant amount of carbon coming out of the closest faucet. I also drained and flushed the water heater to make sure I had all the carbon out of that. Would have been nice to know that ahead of time, and run a bit of water into a bucket before completing the connection back into the house and contaminating all the lines. The water immediately tasted better (like bottled water). My wife and I both noticed softer water when showering, and she doesn't have to use fabric softener when washing bath towels. The dishwasher also works better, and less scaling on the glasses. I have noticed that there is almost no scale buildup on the faucets or shower heads. However, the scale that was on the shower head has not been cleared off after two months of use. Not a big deal, I can clean that to then insure scale buildup does not come back.Date published: 2019-01-17Rated 1 out of 5 by frustrated from disappointed! I have municipal water here in Plainville, CT. It has a very high mineral content which, according to the town, is "acceptable and within the safe range". I installed all new plumbing fixtures when we bought the place because they were a mess from the calcium. The new fixtures were a mess within a month. I installed the complete aquasana system, including the SimplySoft. I have had this system in place for over a year and haven't seen even a little bit of a change. I am very disappointed that I paid all this money when I could have gotten a real softener and been done with this. (I have had the water tested to verify the content of the water before and after installing the filter)Date published: 2018-12-05Rated 3 out of 5 by Nata from Not as good as expected It works but not 100%. The water in Brookfield CTis super hard and with this softener we still get about half the hard water deposits plus the fact that the broken down molecules travel back into the water is not helpful. I still can not run the dish washer without spots and if i boil the water the pot is chalky white. Maybe the traditional salt softener would have been a better choice.Date published: 2018-11-07Rated 2 out of 5 by Aimon from Does not work for extremely hard water We are in South Texas and have well water.. this softener does nothing for water as hard as we have. I had to reinstall the salt/potassium based one and add a reverse osmosis system to get rid of the salt taste.Date published: 2018-10-08Rated 1 out of 5 by Andre Soares from No changes after installation. The same hard water after installing this whole house water softener from Aquasana. We tested for a few weeks with different ways: - Measuring the hard water level - No cleaning the shower glass for a few days after each usage - Leaving water still in a pot for a day without any other water There was no change in any of the tests. The shower glass, which was my main hope, was the same as without the filter. So I imagine the impact over the water heater and pipes are the same and damage in long term is just the same. When I reach out to return, I realized I would need to hire a plumber again to come remove the unit and change back the pipes all to the previous set up, so I gave up, as the cost for the plumber to install was almost the same as the unit. To remove would be the same cost again, so I left it in. I don't recommend and if you really need a softener, go with one that it's a true one. I tried to save cost and tested this, I regret and should have just saved the money.Date published: 2018-09-06Rated 5 out of 5 by SailtheCape from Highly pleased. Performs as advertised We conducted extensive research and settled on the Aquasana for our high rise condo in Cape Coral, FL, where the municipal water is deplorable. Our local plumbing contractor recommended and installed the Aquasana Whole House system in a small water heater closet. We added the Sterilight UV Filter, and pre, post, and micron filters. The water taste is excellent - as good or better than any bottled water. We've also observed a noticeable improvement in the laundry, shower, and no hard water deposits/spots on the glass shower doors. The system is far superior to salt based and reverse osmosis systems as it does not waste water in the process. We are completely satisfied with our purchase.Date published: 2018-05-08Rated 1 out of 5 by NN from Not work at all I used this system almost one year and it’s not doing anything to the water. Spot still every where before and after I remove it for testing. Can’t believe they made the system like this. I wish I can get money back.Date published: 2018-04-22
6-year...does this need to be replaced every 6 years? at a cost of $1800?Hello Greer67, The SimplySoft 6-Year Whole House Salt-Free Water Softener is replaced every 6 years. However, it does require the pre-filter to be replaced every 2 months to remove any sediment. Thank you, Aquasana Service TeamDate published: 2018-09-05
I wanted to confirm whether the entire system needs to be replaced every 6 years and the pre-filter needs to be removed every 2 years - Aquasana Service Team's response reads like they missed a "not" in the first sentence because of However in the second.
