Installation was relatively easy, went thru all the set up procedures only to find the unit short cycles continuously and did not begin to heat the room after running for two days straight! Reread instructions and went back over several times to no avail. O.K. maybe it`s me. Called the co. for troubleshooting, waited on hold for 40 minutes. I explained the problem and asked do other people have this same problem. The girl I talked to said yes, so I asked how do they fix it and she replied they just live with it!! Needless to say the heater is off the ceiling and in the box going back to home depot. I basically wasted 10 hours of my life and have to look for another heater to buy and install. B. Tech support was absolutely laughably useless as well. I have 2 more to add as well. It has no on/off ability and (as stated by others) will keep running forever. Keep that in mind if it's sucking power for a space you don't use constantly or need heated at all times. Also the bracket is kinda silly in where you have the option of 2 tiny pinhole screws holding this heavy thing above you, or hacking out some of the metal housing to use the larger hole. Anyway, this thing seems to heat a space well and quickly, but has far far too many negatives to be worth it. Useless for my needs anyway.Date published: 2018-02-27Rated 4 out of 5 by Mike from Good Heater Installed the heater about 2 weeks ago, mid November 2017, in my attached two car garage. Installation was easy (power was already in place). The remote control works well, and the learning phase at initial startup was also very easy; close doors and windows and let the heater run for 28 minutes. I keep the temperature at 51 deg. F for now, and the heater has no issue keeping up. The only minor quible is I would like to have a wall mounted thermostat rather than the ceiling mounted one, even so I recommend this heater.Date published: 2017-11-30Rated 2 out of 5 by No Nick from works but that's it While the installation was fairly easy, the synchronization with the remote control unit took some time. The heater runs permanently until the set temperature is reached but after the cooling cycle the fan shuts only off for a second or two to start heating. Basically it never stops running. Its probably better to buy the non Connex version and just shut it on and off with the breaker. Not really happy with the way how it functions but at least it looks good on the ceiling.Date published: 2015-11-30Rated 5 out of 5 by desrmic from This heater has exactly the features I wanted The only glitch is that when you connect this unit out of the box it will most likely not calibrate correctly to the room as was true for me. I followed the installation guide on how to reset the unit to factory settings and let it calibrate to my garage because it has very high ceiling it ran for over one hour and I made sure not to open and close the door to the garage from house. It calibrated perfetly and now works like a charme.Date published: 2015-11-15Rated 3 out of 5 by Heavydigits from Does work Have been operating for ~1month. Unit seems to short cycle - will heat for 60-120 seconds, during which the internal thermostat of the connex controller appears to heat much more quickly than the ambient temperature of the room. After the thermostat heats to a few degrees above setpoint (usually only 60-120 seconds) a cool down cycle begins which is a fixed 5 minutes. After the 5 minute cool down, the unit shuts off the fan momentarily only to restart heating process - as ambient temps are still below setpoint. If left to cycle long enough, the ambient will reach setpoint and unit will begin to cycle regularly, and not as frequently. Its a shame the unit doesn't through heat further which could avoid the overheating of the internal thermostat. I have modified and remotely located thermostat which has helped tremendously and increased runtime before cool down cycle. Unit appears to have a high limit probe installed above the fan, so I felt secure performing a relocate of the internal connex thermostat. **NOT RECOMMENDED** I am considering returning unit for a NON-connex version which uses a remotely located line voltage switching thermostat. Also worth mentioning... It seems that once and only one instance, the unit seemed to ignore setpoints and continued to call for heat. Adjusting setpoint on remote controll and unit mounted controls appeared to temporarily be ignored as unit continued to supply heat. Control was eventually regained, but I no longer leave breakers on when going out of town... Thank you for your time.Date published: 2015-11-12Rated 1 out of 5 by RayCon1964 from Product does not function properly Bought this product to heat my garage. It had all the features I wanted. Once installed and switched on it ran it's setup program and never shut down. The heating elements would kick in even when the ambient temperature was well above the temperature setting. The fan would shut down 2 seconds and start up again. The only way to stop the fan from continually running was to close the circuit breaker or set the temperature to 6 degrees. I tried desnagging the unit on the phone with Dimplex(very friendly service) but to no avail. Got a replacement unit at Home Depot only to have the exact same problems. Will return the unit today as there is obviously a design or production flaw. I'm very disappointed.Date published: 2015-11-06
Should the heating coils get red hot when the unit is attempting to reach set point? RayCon 1964 Update: I returned a second unit and got a third one. This time I let it run it's calibration for almost three hours. It runs much better now. Another suggestion is to hold the remote up close to the unit when synching, then install on wall.Good Afternoon, Please contact Dimplex @ 1 888 346 7539 M-F 8-4:30pm est to help in answering any questions you may have about the unit.
