It is very solid and the mechanisms have no detectable slop. It is a must for repeatable precision cuts. I love this little but powerful gem. I would definitely recommend this saw for precision work and being rugged. I don't believe a other Micro style saw can compete with this Proxxon.Date published: 2018-05-29Rated 4 out of 5 by HomeDepotCustomer from Saw is great for cutting pen blanks to size. ... I have had this product since the end of December 2016, just over a month. 1) The drive belt broke after less than a month of normal use. No power tool I have ever bought has had a failure such as this. 2) Prior to the failure, I found the saw difficult to use for these reasons: a) Except for 45 degree and straight cuts, it is nearly impossible to see the miter scale and set the angle because the scale is blocked by the saw head (motor/blade). It also keeps the scale in a constant shadow. b) The saw head's bulk makes it impossible to see the wood as it is being cut. b) Adjusting the saw head to ensure the blade does not hit the clamp during cutting is awkward and slow. c) When making a 45 degree cut, the 80-tooth blade I special-ordered does not cut all the way through a 3/8 inch thick 1 inch wide piece of moulding, so I need to manually complete the cut with a saw. The manual states that the saw should handle such a cutDate published: 2017-02-01Rated 5 out of 5 by Fancy from A product that did exactly what I hoped it would do. The saw is excellent. I cut the tops off bullets for jewelry and other creations. I can adjust the saw to hold different size bullets and at different angles. It is size appropriate for what I am doing. Light weight enough for me and fits on my workbench perfectly. It does exactly what I need it to do.Date published: 2015-12-29
