I have four downspouts from my home gutters that go into 4 inch drain tile. Two of these drain tiles terminate and spill into a small pond. The other two terminate into the center of my yard. For the two in the yard, I had used just regular elbows and grates at the termination point. I have to clean the debris out constantly to avoid blockage. I ordered these pop up emitters with flexible elbow made by Reln from Home Depot to replace the grates. They fit either 3 or 4 inch tile. The emitter portion is made of a durable green plastic that blends in well with the landscape. I like the flexible elbow because both of my tiles in the yard are on a slope and it was easy to adjust the angle of the bend to meet the grade and still flow properly. The emitter cap keeps all the grass and debris out of the tile. The emitter cap assembly can be easily removed if debris collects at the elbow. My only drawback is that they can hold some water if it is not sloped properly. Then when our freeze comes, the drain won’t work properly due to the ice in the tile flexible elbow until the spring thaw. That would result in back up in the drain tile. I did test both to make sure minimal water was left in the tile. I also set both in a bed of stone and drilled a few drain holes in the elbow wall to release the small amount of standing water. I think these look great and work well so far. Just what I expected. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

This is a plastic pop up type cover for the end of a buried drain system such as downspout lines buried to shed rainwater away from the house foundations or walls. It fits either 3 or 4 inch PVC or corrugated drain pipe and mounts flush with the surface. The top "pops" up when the water pressure causes it to raise and allow drainage and then returns to the closed position. I used it in a french drain system to handle overflow without having to have the stone material exposed. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

I'm working on my raing gutters and I needed to channel the water away from the house. This emitter will allow us to disperse the run-off away from the house and it will allow us the water 2-trees we planted. Due to the cold-weather, unable to install in the ground at this time. Will provide pictures in a few weeks. I'd recommend this product if you looking to use this water to irrigate other areas, with easy! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Reln pop-up emitter is a must have to keep drains closed off to access by small animals and bugs. Really like the flexible corrugate so I can set the emitter on a grade that is roughly 25 degrees in my application. I would have had to use a combination of fittings to have the pop-up look level with the lawn. The corrugate has a line of perforations which need to be pointed down during installation to keep standing water out and I will need to wrap mine with a material that will weep water while keeping sand and small rocks out of the drain. Plan to get a couple more now I know how easy they are to use. I will be attaching to a 3" corrugate but am pleased I have the option of attaching 4" with the same emitter. POP-UP EMITTER WITH FLEXIBLE ELBOW would come in handy while I drained a flooded basement due to subzero temperatures this past week. I was surprised the coverage area the unit provided (but of course, a 4" supply pipe does generate a great volume of discharge water. The emitter handled a 1/2 hp supply motor into the 4" line without any trouble. I'm not sure it would perform as well with water not under pressure or gravitational power to actual demonstrate its full value. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

I have a floor drain under my washing machine. The city sewer backed up and the water came up the drain and into my kitchen. I have a parquet floor in that room and it required a lot of repair. After that I took the plug out of my clean-out and covered it with 1/4" wire mesh. I saw this emitter and installed it in my clean-out. It looks so much better and the bugs will stay out now. It takes very little pressure for the pop-up to work so I'm sure this problem won't happen again. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

I usually have to buy the top green part that allows water to leave the pipe and closes when no water pressure is pushing it open. But it also has the flexible black plastic pipe too, and this one will bend, expand out, and fit into both 3" and 4" pipe. The bending part of this makes it perfect to change direction of the pipe to whatever you desire. If you buy each of these parts separately, it will cost more that this, and the top will not be attached as well. I will be using this as my go to from now on. I don't see any drawbacks. I received this well packaged when shipped to Missouri in January, so its not been installed yet. This is a well made durable plastic emitter joint that goes on the end of a buried drainage line and allows water that is draining thru the line under gravity pressure to press the emitter up and open the drain and then close again when the pressure drops back down. This is designed to be laid over a bed of drainage rock, 3/4" clean is my preferred rock. I also use the soil separater material before I lay my rock down so that dirt doesn't get mixed in with it. I also am a fan of the socks that go on slotted drainage pipe to keep dirt and such out of your drain pipe and doesn't allow outside stuff into it to clog it up. Further more they have a special tape that is designed to be used on corrugated plastic drainage pipe that i use. It is better than duct tape because it doen't get dried out and it is a waterproof tape unlike duct tape. From doing tests in the bath tub it works as intended. It will probably end up on the end of my buried gutter lines where they dump off in to my ditch at the front of the house. Make a much prettier looking exit than just the pipe sitting in the ditch.
