Customer ReviewsPerformance Plus 63 Imperial Gal Electric Water Heater with 9 Year Warranty is rated out of 5 by 7.Rated 3 out of 5 by Steve from Works well after installation issue After reading other reviews on this water heater I knew that it was bottom fed, which worked for my installation above a crawl space. What I didn't know was that instead of having an independent inlet, the cold water inlet is actually on the side of the drain, and it's a female thread, so I had to head back to the store to get a 3/4" threaded nipple to attach the water line. After hooking everything up and filling the tank, the drain started to leak, exactly as described in one of the previous reviews. If the water inlet wasn't on the side of the drain I may have been able to tighten it, but I couldn't do that without removing my cold water line, which would have resulted in all the water flooding out onto the floor. I had to drain the tank and reinstall the drain, which had the tiniest amount of thread sealant I've ever seen. After reinstalling the drain properly and refilling the tank it's been working well for two weeks now. I hadn't thought about this before, but cold water entry on the top of the tank is probably best. It's one less spot at the bottom of the tank that can start to leak. If something is leaking at the bottom you have no choice but to completely drain the tank before you can fix it. The next tank I buy will be a top entry.Date published: 2019-02-05Rated 1 out of 5 by gispet from Poor Quality Had this water heater professionally installed Sept. 2017. Stopped working Feb.2018. Do not recommend this product to anyone requiring hot water in their house.Date published: 2018-02-26Rated 3 out of 5 by Tinman from In correct product description. I bought this unit to replace a top feed heater. No where in the specifications, description or even the picture does it show or tell you that it is in fact a bottom feed. Even the box shows that it is supposed to be a top feed. It is not until you get it home and opened that you find out it is a bottom feed. And by then it is to hard return or doing anything as the box is generally ruined. Then you find out you need extra parts as you will need elbows, extra pex, sharkbite and even a male connector to attach the pipe to the intake. If this had been a top feed as the website alludes too it would have taken one third the time. So not a bad review of the product but of home depot for incorrect product information.Date published: 2018-02-17Rated 1 out of 5 by Rheemed from SIDE BOTTOM SUPPLY CONNECTION! There is a supplement page in the instructions, find that, it states that the model is configured differently for some BC energy efficiency regulation nonsense. If you hook up the supply line at the top and do not plug the bottom supply inlet, there will be a flood when the water supply is turned back on. I lost $300 worth of laminate flooring and 2 days of my life cleaning up the mess and re-installing new flooring, so not impressed.Date published: 2017-04-03Rated 1 out of 5 by MikeGG from Instructions need a re-write I bought this unit and got a couple surprises on trying to installation. The cold water feed was supposed to be on top but it was not. When I bought the unit at Home Depot I was given the wrong information. The installation manual does not even mention that the feed is on the bottom. After going back to buy the pipe and plumbing parts to connect the cold water to the bottom feed I filled the tank. Upon filling the tank I discovered a slow drip from the drain spout. So I had to drain the whole tank again and repair the improperly manufacture installed drain spout. I found that they did not use enough joint compound. I had to remove the drain spout and apply some telfon/joint compound before replacing it and then proceeding to reattach the plumbing and refilling the tank for a second time.Date published: 2017-01-23Rated 4 out of 5 by HonmeOwner from Bottom Cold Entry I bought this heater a few days ago to replace my old top entry heater. It installs easily and works very well. I'm very satisfied. However, buyer beware: it is NOT the heater shown in the picture. Model# 629889 is a bottom cold entry tank. It threw my install for a small loop as I had to get more 1/2" pipe than I first anticipated.Date published: 2017-01-06Rated 5 out of 5 by SNOWGECKOHQ from Easy install... Purchased last week....installed yesterday...it heated up fast. Nice LED shows which elements are on. Bottom cold entry. There are great install videos on utube....making this an easy dyi project. I replaced a 17 year old Giant 40 gallon tank. No issues with filling a large jacuzzi tub.Date published: 2016-03-22

Just about the heating sequence. when i first installed the water heater. upper element indicator turned on. bottom element did not. the water is hot and loved it. just wondering is it normal that the lower element that always works after initial heat up?The elements on this heater never both come on at the same time since they operate non-simultaneously. All three of the lights on the panel should never be on at the same time.Date published: 2019-01-31
Is this tank 60 imperial gallons or 60 US gallons?I would also like to know the answer to this: is it 60 imperial gallons or 60 US gallons? Or even better, what's the capacity in Litres so I don't have to wonder which godforsaken ancient unit it's in?Date published: 2019-02-24
Are these elements Stainless steel or no? If not, Im curious why stainless is in the cheaper model. Thanks! No. This product has copper elements. Stainless Steel is available in the 12YR (Performance Platinum) model. Hope this helps. Cheers.Date published: 2018-08-25
