Tofu Stir-Fry on the Grill

Delight your family and guests alike with this great grilled tofu stir-fry. The flavours of ginger, garlic and hoisin are elevated with the heat of the pepper flakes giving you a delicious dish that’s sure to please.

  1. Step 1 Prepare the Tofu and Mix Ingredients

    Prepare the Tofu and Mix Ingredients.

    Remove tofu from packaging. Place about 4 paper towels on a plate. Set tofu on top of plate and cover with more paper towels. Place a cast iron pan or something else that is heavy on top. Let sit 30 minutes.

    In a medium bowl, stir together Hoisin sauce, soy sauce, sugar, ginger, garlic, and red pepper flakes. Cut tofu in half lengthwise. Place in bowl with sauce and toss to coat. Let sit 30 minutes.

  2. Step 2 Cook your Vegetables

    Cook your Vegetables.

    Heat the basket (or wok) over high heat. Add onions, peppers, carrots, snow peas and bok choy to a bowl a toss with canola oil. Place the Vegetables in the preheated basket; stir-fry 5-7 minutes. Stirring periodically to evenly cook throughout.

  3. Step 3 Make your Stir-Fry Sauce

    While the vegetables cook in the basket, place a small pan on grill over medium-high heat. Add 1 tbsp canola oil. Add garlic and ginger, cooking until slightly browned. Add Shaoxing or sherry, hoisin and sesame oil. Cook for 30 seconds – 1 minute. Whisk cornstarch with vegetable broth and add to the pan stirring constantly; cook until thickened (about 1 minute), remove from heat.

  4. Step 4 Cook your Tofu

    Cook your Tofu.

    Once the sauce is cooked, begin cooking the marinated tofu. pre-set grill burner to high and allow grates to get very hot. Remove tofu from marinade and place on grill, for 1-2 minute per side, until grill marks appear, basting the alternate side with a basting brush, using remaining marinade liquid.

  5. Step 5 Cut your Tofu and Mix Everything Together

    Remove the tofu, and vegetables from the grill. Cut tofu into bitesize squares. Mix vegetables, tofu, and vegetable sauce in a bowl. Top with sesames seeds and chopped green onions.
