An in-line $6 toggle on-off switch GE Model # 52149 made up for the lack of a switch on the unit. For me, monitorinng the pumpdown (5 - 20 min. 3-4x per day) is no problem (the pump must be shut off manually to prevent runng dry, which leads to premature pump faillure).\n\nGiven these requirements, the total cost of $88 made it the right tool for me.\n

\n \n \n \n Rated 4 out of\n 5\n by\n jaxon from\n Flotec Submersible Pump\n Small pump, but it did a big job. If you have five inches of water in your basement, this will do the job. A long discharge hose (regular garden type 30 + ft) may need to be primed for immediate results, depending on elevation of discharge flow. The pump is rugged, compact, quiet and it weighs only a few pounds. Discharge is very manageable, 1200 gallons per hour, eh... maybe, though not a hard bellowing stream.\n

\n \n \n \n Rated 4 out of\n 5\n by\n AmateurDIYer from\n Good little pump\n It does just what it says it will do. We bought it for draining our hot tub. If you have time constraints - buy a more powerful one. But this one will do the trick - just a bit longer.\n

\n \n \n \n Rated 2 out of\n 5\n by\n RODNEY from\n CHECK OPERATION BEFORE YOU ACTUALLY NEED IT.\n I HAVE PURCHASED FOUR (4) PUMPS IN TOTAL, THE FIRST ONE WORKED GREAT THIS WAS JUST AFTER KATRINA . WHEN IT STOPPED WORKING I PURHASE TWO (2) MORE, ONE FOR MYSELF AND ONE FOR MY SON IN LAFAYETTE, LA. MY PUMP DID NOT WORK AT ALL, BUT LIKE THE FOOL I AM I DID NOT TEST IT AFTER I PURCHASED IT, SO I RECENTLY PURCHASED ANOTHER ONE IT'S FINE BUT IT DOES NOT WORK ANY WAY NEAR THE SAME AS MY FIRST PUMP FROM 2005. I DID ASK MY SON TO TEST HIS PUMP JUST TO MAKE SURE IT WORKS AND HE HAS TESTED IT BUT HE ADMITS ITS RATHER POOR COMPARED TO THE INSTRUCTIONS AND OUT PUT ON THE CARTON. EVERY OTHER PUMP JUST ISN'T WANT I CAN USE TO PUMP MY PATIO DURING AND AFTER A HARD RAIN, THE FIRST ONE WAS JUST GREAT BUT THE NEWER ONES JUST DON'T COMPARE.\n

\n \n \n \n Rated 1 out of\n 5\n by\n Lynn from\n Untimely Purchase.\n We purchased this pump the day of the big flood. As water was pouring into our basement, the pump was not working to pump it out. We had to go back to Home Depot to buy something else. This added stress onto an already stressful situation. I guess we had a bad pump. My son has purchased one and it works just fine. I'm not the person to ask about this product.\n

\n \n \n \n Rated 5 out of\n 5\n by\n kenjunk from\n Very good pump\n Very good pump and reliable so far. Moves a lot of water as long as you use a 1" pipe for the outlet. Using a small garden hose moves the water very slow.\n

\n \n \n \n Rated 4 out of\n 5\n by\n mrajfura from\n Does it's job but slow\n Rated output of this pump at 10 foot lift is 900 Gallons per hour. I had a 4 foot pool that is 18 feet round that holds 8000 gallons. I had a foot and a half left in the pool so about 3000 gallons. I ran the pump from 1 PM till 8 PM, from the bottom of the pool up and over the 4 foot wall, then down to the ground, 3 foot drop from there up one foot to the driveway. So not sure how you would calculate that and this through a 50 foot garden hose, but either way it is less than 10 feet lift, comes out to about 428 gallons per hour. My guess it is about 2 foot higher than the bottom of the pool. Overall the pump did not shut down or act up and was still pumping water with hardly any water in the pool. So that is as advertised. However the is still better than removing the water by hand and can be used if we get water in the basement. Should have bought a bigger model. But then how often will I use it to drain the pool, once every 7 years or so to replace the liner.\n\nOh and thumbs up to Home Depot for including the info on their web site. I went to Loews and very little into was given at all except for the horsepower rating of the motor. Home depot even tells you the aisle to find the item and will tell you if your store has it.\n

\n \n \n \n Rated 5 out of\n 5\n by\n SilverBlue from\n Used to drain hot tub\n 550 gallon hot tub would take 5-6 hours to gravity drain. This 1/6 HP pump made short work in draining the entire tub in 45 minutes. Very pleased with the purcahse.\n

\n \n \n \n Rated 1 out of\n 5\n by\n betsy from\n Didn't work\n This pump didn't work. It would draw and remove water for about 30 seconds and then it would just make noise like it was trying but no water would be moved. I changed the hose I used for drainage 3 times thinking that was the problem, the last hose was only 3 feet long and it stil didn't help. I put it in deeper water with no improvement. I took it back the next day and got my money back.\n

\n \n \n \n Rated 1 out of\n 5\n by\n Marlan from\n Not worth the trip to buy and take back\n The pump is pretty easy to operate just plug in and place where expected excess. The issue I ran into was once the water is sucked up it only overflow the pump and doesn't pump outside as intended thus making the pump useless.\n

\n \n \n \n Rated 1 out of\n 5\n by\n Worldsight from\n Terrible pump, once it stops it won't prime to get going again\n This pump has been a miserable experience for us. We've tried to use it to empty our jacuzzi or collect gray water from showers. If there is even the slightest pressure resistance, it just stops pumping. I would not recommend this pump to anyone, it's not a good value for the money it costs.\n

If this new one lasts half as long as the others of this brand and size, it will be an excellent investment.\n
