With it's "earth" magnets, it won't fall off the ductwork that I'm leveling and with it's angle level feature I can use it to run ductwork at various angles, not just level or 45 degrees.\n

For other angles it's unlikely the non-clicking, visually-aligning dial will be precise, although it will give a reasonable approximation. I bought the balance for this fun feature, but it was a foolish impulse buy in terms of practicality.\n

On a sma...\n The level is not 9 inches, but only 6 7/8 in., the rest are rubber bumpers on the sides. On a small level, I think advertised size makes a difference. But the major flaw with this level is its rotating vial. The printed degrees on the rotating vial does not match up with the correct turn, making one having to second guess if it is actually showing the real degree you originally wanted. I tested this by comparing the 0 and 90 degrees on the rotating vial with the level's included 0 degree and 90 degree vials. Even if they matched up, the rotating vial is smooth turning and doesn't latch on to each increment, therefore making the need for precise setting very important. These two faults are a pity because the center 0 degree vial on this level is probably the best in the market in terms of legibility.\n
