Would have liked to have the extension available in the store and the customer service people should be aware to ask the question if the garage door is a larger size than standard that this extension is needed. If I did not read the instruction very carefully I would have installed the garage door opener and it may not have worked correctly.\n

\n \n \n \n \n Rated 3 out of\n 5\n by\n Anonymous from\n It's ok\n The kit does come with what you need for an 8' door. However I think the price was a bit high for no more that what you get. I bought 6 door openers and Sadly had to spend an extra $300 just to use them. 4 8' doors and 2 12' doors(i understand having to buy for the 12' be door and the price for the extra track wasnt much more) Don't get me Wrong, I love the openers and the technology that's in them but I'm not happy I had to spend another $50 per door. I could have chosen a different opener but Ryobi is the only one that I know of that offered one with so much technology. They got you though only sending track for a 7' door. You have to buy. I'm only recommending this product because there isn't another choice. It does the job but it is a bit pricy.\n

The kit does not include an extension J-bar to accommodate for the greater height from door to opener. Home Depot does not stock an extension bar for this either. Was told I needed to go direct to Ryobi and see if I could order one. I ended up fabricating an extension from two sections of drilled angle iron that were 32" long to connect the two sections of the J-bar and make the installation work. \r\n\r\nIf you have higher than normal door rails, you will need this or the longer kit. Easy to assemble with good instructions. Have a piece of 2x4 handy to drive sections together. Make sure you have some bar steel stock on hand with some way to drill holes to make the J-Bar connection or get some angle iron and cut to fit. Doesn't look pretty but it does the job.\r\n\r\nRyobi needs to offer J-bar extension sections for these applications. Charge me 15 bucks, it would have saved me 1.5hrs in running around looking for one.\n

This caused the door to open and close opposite from how it should have worked causing the safety sensor to work in the up motion.
