This isn't the first Ryobi battery that has gone bad on me either, I had another 40 volt and an 18 volt Ryobi battery fail on me too, both within the first few months. Ryobi's tools are fine, good value for the price, but the batteries are not up to par with the competition. On the positive side, it was easy to replace the first two batteries. Ryobi has a number to call just for batteries, and they shipped within a week.\n

Our neighborhood has a lawn service so I just use this for touchups around my home. Have used it maybe once a month for the past year. Now, the battery won't even charge up to run the tool. Not happy and since it is out of warranty, not much recourse other than to replace the battery or go to another company. I think that I am done with Ryobi.\n

I own 5 of these 40v batteries and all died and started blinking defective within a year. My father has 4 of these and his all died with in a year and blink defective. Do your homework. These are defective from the get go and ryobi knows they have issues with them. I dont care about the 3 year warranty, I spent half my day on phone trying to get replaced and just sat on hold forever. Gave up on ryobi and so should you.\n
