We found it easier and better to use than our dehydrator because it was round and blew air from the top down, less air flow to the bottom. With the Excalibur, the fan is in the back so airflow is evenly distributed and drys more efficiently.\n

I can do 10 pounds of beef jerky at a time. I Prefer to dehydrate my jerky at a lower then recommended temperature, but it still only takes about 10 to 12 hours. I will never be without one of these again.\n

\n \n \n \n Rated 1 out of\n 5\n by\n BBQ from\n Poor Quality\n I was excited to get this unit when I ordered it based on the reviews, the reviews were awesome. However when it arrived there were loose screws and washers rattling in the all plastic housing. It appears that the holes are stripped out and why the loose screws fell out, most likely during shipping. Stripping is normally caused by over tightening the fastener in the brittle plastic housing. For the money spent vs the quality received, I would look elsewhere, this thing is built cheaply, the inside fan is cheap plastic, the heating element is cheap the knobs pop off.\n

\n \n \n \n Rated 5 out of\n 5\n by\n Sherri from\n No regrets!\n I use it weekly! I make yogurt at least twice a month, fruit rolls ups, fruit/yogurt leather, and of course, dehydrate fruits and vegetables when in season. Then I use my Food Saver to seal up the dehydrated fruits and veggies for easy storage. And bonus, it warms up the utility room a little in the winter. I highly recommend the this product. I only wish it can come with some of the paraflex sheets. Be sure to buy some if you intend to do small pieces of product, or roll ups. It's also great for making stale cookies fresh again!\n

\n \n \n \n Rated 5 out of\n 5\n by\n DA from\n does the job\n Functions fine, tomatoes took longer than expected but may have been too thick, thin tomato paste dried faster than expected with less racks in place, don't know about energy efficiency, how could one determine that? Unit seems too expensive for a bunch of plastic with a heater and fan but I'd buy it again. It's somewhat noisy but has a fan so it must be. Racks were scattered about as some others said but it was no problem to rearrange them.\n

\n \n \n \n Rated 5 out of\n 5\n by\n Beeps from\n Very nice dehydrator.\n This is a nice and efficient dehydrator. I've done tons of apples and they are great. Have also dehydrated some peaches, apricots, beets, sweet potatoes, tomatoes, and other things. All have turned out well. It is big so make sure you have the space for it, and it does make some noise with the fan. I have it on my laundry room counter so it is out of the way and if the noise is too much I can just close the door. Also be aware the area below the front door and along the sides will get wet near the beginning of the cycle so you want it on a waterproof surface or something that will not be damaged by the moisture. With the timer it is nice that I can just go to bed and know it will turn off at the right time.\n

\n \n \n \n Rated 5 out of\n 5\n by\n RAT54 from\n This product rates the best\n One of the best investments I have made in a long time. I have two cheaper models that take 6-7 hours to do a run of jerky, The Excalibur take about 3-3 1/2 to make a run and I can do twice as much jerky at one time. If you get one be sure to get one with the timer, it is a must have. I will never go back to a round dehydrator. And the fan is quieter than my cheaper models. I have made at least 8 runs of jerky since I got this and the only problem was getting the timing down.\n
