Rated 5 out of 5 by from Does a better job than I expected I was expecting this machine to do an ok job, but I was very impressed by how well this removed the thatch, and there was a lot. It ran very well through even the thick areas. I also tried the scarifier attachment and it was fantastic as well. Made fast work of the prep for reseeding. We have a .25 acre back yard and the machine was fantastic. Even the neighbor was impressed and wants to buy one. It's light weight and easy to use. The catcher bag is way too small, but I used it anyway and the air vent at the front requires frequent cleaning, but those are the only nuisances, apart from the very long extension cord I used.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Beware of plastic parts! Waited 2 weeks to get this in time for spring cleanup. Read some good reviews. When I received it and assembled it, I then found the plastic screw that holds the flap open when you use the grass catcher was broken therefore unusable. Why would they use a plastic screw for something that is under pressure by a spring?? Called sunjoe customer service and they cannot send just the screw. It would have to be replaced completely so was told to return to Home depot for exchange. Of course since it was special order, all I could do was get a refund. My window to use it is now over so the whole thing was a huge disappointment. How long would that part have lasted even if it had been working in the first place. I would NOT RECOMMEND.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Dethatches great, but annoying flaws The Dethatcher worked very nicely and I love having both attachments. Two downsides: the flap/bag cover consistently comes off on one side since the first time I removed the bag, rendering the whole bagging process nearly useless and a big pain (some areas of my yard the particles are smaller and raking later did not work well). Every time I touched the bag I needed to reconnect the cover, and I’m pretty sure after a few uses even that will be too worn out to be fixable. Replacement drums for power rake or scarifying have also been hard to locate for this size.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from 15" 13 amp Sun Joe Lawn Dethatcher Good product and works very well. The collection bag is a bit of a joke though as it is so small it fills almost instantly. Its a bit of a pain to take it off, empty it and re-install every few minutes. I found it easier to leave it off and rake up the thatch every so often. Overall the product seems very light and "cheaply" built with lots of plastic but for me who will only use it once in a long while it should last well. The motor has plenty of power for the job. I would buy again and I do recommend this poduct.

Tears up a huge amount of thatch so the little bagger unit at the back isn’t really helpful, but you can just do it without and pick up later. Their approach to warranty is weird, however. There are two small plastic tabs that hold on the rear door. One of them broke, so I asked for a replacement pin. They sent a replacement machine!?!?! Can’t complain about their customer support on warranty !

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Sun Joe 15" Dethatcher/ Scarifier Back saver, got more thatch out then manual raking with less work. The added few inches and increase in power of the 15" dethatcher made for a quicker task. The scarifier works great to help soil to seed contact for overseeding. Light weight and easy to maneuver then gas powered units. It was easy to change out the dethatching head to the scarifier blade head. The only con is the collection bag is too small and need to be empty often.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love this Dethatcher, but Capture Bag is too Small Does a fantastic job at removing the dead grass and the grass this year is way more lush and green and healthier. My only complaint would be that the bag is way too small to be of use. I basically just ran it without the bag and then picked up the dead grass with the lawn mower with its way larger bag. I do realize that no other consumer level unit on the market has a larger capture bag though, so kept it at 5 Stars.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from It works as advertised I used the Son Joe dethatcher a few times and I'm please with how efficient it is. Depending on the lawn condition, the bag can fill up pretty quickly at first pass. At the second pass or third, the bag proved to be enough to hold the dried thatch. I haven't used it yet to scarify the lawn. However, I do recommend it, even if used just for dethatching.
