I understand that during Home Depot's Curbside model they were not allowing Customer's into the Store to pick there own lumber but at least give Customer's half of there lumber to be straight! Over 80% of the pieces that were delivered to my house were extremely knotted or bowed; not to mention when they were delivered and the delivery company put them so close to my sidewalk anyone walking by could have helped themselves. They were intended to be used for patio benches but they were so bad I had to use the lumber for another project that didn't need straight lumber. Convenient 1 week outside of the return policy Home Depot Canada emails me to write a review...

From the lumber section of HD buying guudes: "Our Millstead dimensional framing lumber meets the highest grading standards for strength and appearance. It is straighter and smoother, with virtually no bark, warp or twist." I was curious where I can find this elusive lumber in-store. Even after digging through piles of 2x4's or 2x6's, the best that I can find all has enough twist, wow, or warp to limit it's uses. If using it in short pieces, its not too awful, but trying to find a 2x4x8 that is straight end to end is next to impossible.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from They asked if I had anything to say about 2x4s I believe this lumber was made from genuine, natural, organic, free range, non gmo, trees and has authentic wood grain. It also seems to be gluten, peanut, and dairy free. If you are superstitious this product meets all requirements for anyone wishing to knock on/touch wood. Should you not wish to touch something with an 8ft pole, this product will work in a pinch, although it would not be suitable if you prefer a 10ft distance. Works great for holding miscellaneous screws, nails and staples. Hope this helps.

One lift can be 90% perfect.. While the next pile looks mangled and chewed up.. Rarely do I see a 2x4 that looks good on all 4 sides anymore.. And there's still bark on a lot of them.. I don't know why the quality is so terribly inconsistent.. But, it's frustrating.. Find a better supply of lumber, or we will..

My family has owned building supply stores for close to 40 years before selling to one of the larger national chains, so I became quite familiar with the lumber that passed for framing, etc. I can say that I was blown away by the quality of my 2x4's Little in the way of knots, and it was very straight with little to no warping, etc. I was very impressed, especially as I was at their mercy as I bought online and had someone pick it up for me. I was truly expecting a grab bag of 2x4's -- some straight, some with warps or lots of knots. That just was not the case in my purchase.

I haven't opened the whole pack yet but I would like to share the information that was not given in the product page and probably would be informative for you to select this product. This is a Structural Select Grade (Select) and is the KD-HT means you'll get less movement with kiln-dried (KD) and it is also heat treated (HT) to kill pests. The Structural Select is highest grade of lumber. If you don't use for an structural element you better to find a cheapest in the market as Grade 1, 2 or 3

I need good 2x4's and Home Depot was always my first choice because they always had good quality lumber. Now that the prices are outrages, the quality of their lumber is terrible. It took me 30 minutes to pick out 12 2x4's. Even the 2x4's that I bought were not the greatest. None of them have a full square edge. It seems that they ship their worst quality of wood to Cape Breton.

Had to pick and choose every single one as majority on the stock is not straight as you wish it could be and you need to examine each piece carefully.
