Rated 3 out of 5 by from Ok, but difficult to change filters I've got the same complaint as Sunshine Mom. Not sure how I haven't broke the "wrench" yet, but it's always everything I have to change the filters. The UV filter on the other hand is a breeze. The hardest part is getting the calcium off of the sleeve which 5 minutes and some white vinegar takes care of. Also started buying 2 of the 3 parts from the Online store (you know the one...) for much less - the 20x4.5 filter though is still cheaper at HD. The unit does what it's supposed to, but changing the filters shouldn't be THIS hard. Before you buy, check out some others, they may not all be this bad.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Glad I picked this product I shopped around for similar products, and did some intense price-comparing. The down-side to less-expensive models is the fact that you have to do the plumbing between the components. This product was relatively easy to install, no surprises (follow the directions), and when I was finished installing, it was a project I was proud of. The black bracket is sturdy, and the instructions are straight-forward (no 'engrish' translation problems). I am very happy I didn't get something from somewhere else - everything was ready-to-go from the box - I hung it and connected the fittings. It is neat, compact, and perfect!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Dont Buy This PRODUCT! We bought this for our home 3 years ago It works, but when it comes time to change the filters its a NIGHTMARE My husband and I dread it everytime, getting the filters off is almost impossible..water spills out everywhere when you relieve the pressure...we broke the plastic wrench that comes with it trying to get them off, and had to buy a new one.. I would suggest buying a different product..especially for the price point I would give this product a 0 star rating if I could

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works great on sulfur well water! This was an awesome buy. We just moved to a house with a low-yield well. The water was very clear, with no iron issues, no e coli at the time of testing, but a very strong sulfur smell. Our water is slightly hard, but we have the softener disabled. Guests hesitated to shower and brush their house when visiting, and laundry loads stunk up half our main floor with the rotten egg smell. The sulfur we have is naturally occurring in the ground, not from bacteria in the pipes, water heater or from iron or manganese. We also have a large cistern to collect rainwater. This system was relatively easy to install, though plumbing the pipes around the unit is not for a novice - we would recommending hiring someone to install it properly as we did (after our own attempts failed). The unit itself is very large - the tall filter is 20" long; larger than it appears on the online photos. The positive results were instant - no sulfur smell and we also have peace of mind that the UV is taking care of the e-coli if/when we have issues. We set it up so that it filters water from both the well and the cistern. The cistern filtration results were also excellent. We can't tell the difference between either water sources. I also didn't notice any change in water pressure, though some others in our household notice a minor decrease. In regards to the previous comments about the replacement filters - they are reasonably-priced and they are available from Home Depot (maybe they weren't at the time of the previous reviews). I've also seen them on other online sources for similar prices, so I don't have any concerns about sourcing them when it's time to replace them.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Peace of Mind Water is too important to mess with. I had a positive coliform count from my well. I could have shocked the well with Javex and flushed it out, but what if the bacteria returns? This unit provides round the clock disinfection. As long as you have a clear and stable source of water this UV unit should neutralize anything that goes through it. Made by Trojan Technologies, the same people who build big UV units for water utilities. Some PEX and a few Sharkbites and I was up and running in no time.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Replacement Filters All though the Absolute H2O is doing a great job purifying our water. The reason for an average rating is that I seem to be having trouble purchasing replacement filters. Does anyone else have this problem?
Date published: 2012-10-23
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Too dificult to change filters The filters are nearly impossible to remove. I've broke several of the plastic wrenches in attempting to get the filters off. No luck. The customer support was no use. "Keep trying" isn't helpful. Not much good if you can't replace the filters.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Replacement Filters Love the way the Absolute H2O cleans our well water! However, I can't find replacement filters so in a few months it'll be worthless!

How do I get replacement filters? All the store that I checked do not carry both the sediment and the carbon filters so where can I get them?

Asked by: Anonymous
Every 6 months has been my experience with a water softener before the input side of the unit. Use NSF certified filters for best results, the non-NSF certified filters do not seem to work very well. I order my replacements online from Home Depot or the vendor's site.

will your system help with rust going through the water lines from the well

Asked by: Anonymous
Yes it will. We have a lot of iron in the water, this unit coupled with a water softener provided perfectly clear water. Filters will last 5-6 months before they need to be changed. You can tell when the time comes, the water starts to be less clear and a filter change resolves this. Great unit, but there is an annual cost to replace the filters and UV unit. Though there are substitute filters available by others, the originals work the best as they are NSF certified and the others I found are not and do not do a great jobs filtering.

How do you get the filters off.The wrench broke right away and if the filters don't come off it's all going back to HD.Very frustrating for such a large purchase.

Asked by: Bruno
Yes that seems to be an issue with this product.  I have been in contact with the manufacturer. They suggest using two of their tools together which they are sending to me.  Also they made a suggestion to try a strap wrench. Once you do get them off to lubricate the o ring with food grade oil such as coconut oil both before and after you reinstall the O ring.  My plumber stop short of breaking the tool and suggested calling the manufacturer for assistance which I did.  We shall see. Hope that helps.

Does this unit require replacement of full UV package or just the UV light and how often is it required to replace. Also, how often to replace carbon and sediment filters.

Asked by: Holly
The lamp needs to be replaced annually, but the quartz sleeve can be re-used as long as it is clean and unbroken. The sediment filter can be changed when you notice a pressure drop, and the carbon filter can be replaced when you notice changes in the taste and smell of the water, otherwise we recommend replacement the cartridges annually with the UV lamp.

Operates with a softner?

The sediment filter included with this product does not act as a softner, correct? The H2O should be installed before the water softner?
Asked by: Anonymous
The filters included in this product remove sediment and improve the colour, taste, and odour of the water. They do not remove hardness minerals from the water; an additional water softener is necessary to soften the water. The Absolute H2O IHS-10 should be installed after the softener, if a softener is necessary. This prevents scaling of the quartz sleeve inside the UV reactor. (Use water with a maximum of 120 ppm or 7 grains per gallon of hardness with the Absolute H2O IHS-10.)

Is this NSF certified?

Asked by: Anonymous
While the UV is not NSF certified, the large sediment filter is validated under the NSF Standard 42 protocol.
