Rated 1 out of 5 by from bogus product Product does not perform as advertised. Can't heat water hot enough. Keeps kicking the breaker. But the sad thing is that my water flow is too high??? Dropping the flow to the point pressure in the shower was pathetic. And it still kicked out. There tanks are a joke. Best to stick with a real hot water tank.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from YES for RESIDENTIAL use!! Ignore the review saying this is 3 phase and can’t be used for residential use. This unit is 100% single phase and can be used for residential. The very basic wiring diagram clearly shows this. Either the Master Electrician cheated his way through schooling or was shown the wrong wiring diagram. The reason you need 3 x 50 amp 2 pole breakers is because you need one for each of the 3 elements. What you WILL need is a minimum 200amp service, which some homes will not have.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from **Not for Residential Use** I found this unit on clearance and grabbed it because of the great (discounted) price. Someone ordered it and returned it. Now I know why. The box, manual, and specs all indicate it's a 240V system yet it required 3x50Amp breakers. I showed it to our Master Electrician at work and he confirmed it's a three phase 208V setup. 99% of residential homes cannot install this unit!! DO NOT BUY if it's going into your house. Returning it was easy but I'm annoyed at such a screw up on the manufacturers part.

How many Gpm, (gallons per min) of hot water will this unit produce?

Asked by: Customer
That is a loaded question, the incoming water temperature, the voltage and the desired temperature will all affect the flow rate. There is no standard answer to this question

I am going to put a tankless system in my home, it is 24 x 24 two storey no basement, what size do I need? It is 2 x 6 exterior wall the home is a r2000 rating.

Asked by: tommy
This unit is designed for whole home use. It can provide hot water to a shower and sinks along and a washing machine or dishwasher at the same time. It will heat the water 30 degrees C from the incoming water temperature to a maximum of 55 degrees C (automatic shut off to prevent scalding) The Advantage 27 KW unit requires 3 separate 50 Amp breakers. It is a step system based on the flow required. The first heater activates as soon as the hot water tap is turned on. As you demand more water then the second and third heaters turn on as required. This reduces the amount of power used to supply your hot water. We recommend this unit for concurrent multiple applications. Hoping this answers your question.

Is this ADV270FDCH electric hot water tankless operate on single phase or three phase I notice you mention 3 - 50 amps breakers. Is there some single phase available. Thank you . Paul

Asked by: olgapaulo
This IS a 240v single phase heater. I'm not sure who the electrician was but he was mistaken. In the wiring diagram it shows 3 separate 2 pole 50A circuits are needed. 3x2C/#8 lines are needed, each heating element is wired on its own breaker and controlled by the heating unit.

How does this unit rate next to convential tank style water heaters?

Asked by: Wanna fish
These tanks are amazing, cut my hydro bill by 1/2 and endless hot water with no worries of freezing water if you want to shower a little longer after a long day as I had with my tank type water heater.
