Rated 3 out of 5 by from Tongue is extremely fragile - OK quality I had 14 of these delivered to trim out a fireplace built-in unit. The tongue portion on these boards are extremely thin, fragile and a bunch were damaged on the boards I received. This made the install a bit more annoying as they weren't sitting perfectly & level in the joining boards groove. I've used shiplap boards from HD's competitor which are much better quality for a similar price point. Everything did work out in the end but it was definitely annoying dealing with these.

Is this product nickel gap to hide the nails?

Asked by: Rumple17
It’s a bit thicker of a “gap” then a nickel, but yes, it hides the nails. The gap is probably about 1/4 inch

How much would i need for 30 sq feet

How much would i need for 30 sq feet
Asked by: Sue
Hello Sue, thank you for your inquiry. Each 96" piece will cover 3.29 square feet. Assuming you have no waste and you are not installing in an diagonal pattern, then 10 pieces should cover your space. We do recommend allowing for up to 10% additional footage for waste or miss cuts. Also, keep in mind your space size. For example, if the space you are looking to cover is 6-1/2 feet wide, you may chose to purchase additional footage and discard the additional 1-1/2 feet from each piece to avoid joints in your project. We hope this information helps in the completion of your current project.

What is the expansion on the length and width.

What is the expansion on the length and width.
Asked by: Tas
Hello Tas, thank you for your inquiry. The expansion of length and width of MDF is approximately 0.25% considering a change in relative humidity of 40% to 85%. For this reason, it is strongly recommended that the product be acclimatized to the surroundings it will be installed in for 24 to 48 hours prior to the installation. This will give the product time to assume the moisture levels of its surroundings. It is also recommended to use wood glue in any joints between two pieces of MDF to help minimize separation due to contraction. Thank you.

Would you recommed to install in a bathroom.

Would you recommed to install in a bathroom.
Asked by: Tas
Hello Tas, thank you for your inquiry. We do not recommend installing MDF in a location where it will be exposed to high levels of moisture. MDF can absorb moisture which will cause it to expand and contract. If you choose to install MDF in a bathroom we strongly recommend that the room is properly ventilated and the material is sealed with primer and paint. Thank you.

could you install this in a bathroom with a shower?

Asked by: misterflynn
Hello MisterFlynn, thank you for your inquiry. MDF is not recommended for use in an area that is exposed to excessive moisture. When exposed to moisture it can absorb and expand. We hope this information helps you in the planning process of your current project.
