We offer two main style of valves. Pressure Balance valves and Thermostatic Valves. It sounds like you may be describing a thermostatic unit. View the R510/530 valve.

Zebbie8. You may want to contact American Standard directly for assistance in making sure the correct trim was purchased for your valve. The trim kits are not universal and are used with specific American Standard Valves. Your American Standard Consumer Connection Team.

No, this is not a pressure balance control. You are correct that it is only a volume control to be used with a thermostatic valve. If you need a pressure balance valve only, take a look at the T064500 Series + the R110 Rough Valve.
