Rated 3 out of 5 by from Very nice door but! The door was simple to install, the instructions are a 3 out of 5 for ease of understanding. The top left of the door rubs against the top frame, scratching the paint off and creating a grove. The other problem is the door handle, not included. The lock set is pre-installed, so only Andersen door handles will work, the problem is there are no door handles available to purchase or order online. Home Depot’s web site says that they are available, but after placing the order, it gets canceled. So now the door is in, the handle was supposed to be available today and now I can’t open the door. Grrr Called customer service and they were great and sorted out everything and the door handle will be here in 12-15 days.

With winter right around the corner we'll see how well the door works in keeping the snow and cold out as well as keeping the heat in. So far we have no complaints. It looks great.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Door is ok, customer service was not The door should install simply. It did not. The instructions were not clear and it was very slow to connect with customer service. Also, the rails were bent making installation more difficult and the door rubbed against the trim permanently scraping the black finish off. I’m disappointed with this door (the closer makes creaky noises like a very old door), the instructions provided (unclear and contradictory) information and the customer service was subpar (ridiculously slow to respond and with inaccurate information). They committed to sending an email response, with information critical to completing installation, in 20-30 minutes that took 8 hours. I’d have returned it, but there are no alternatives available. The city of Calgary is sold out of reasonably priced screen doors which is why I bought this expensive one.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Absolutely not easy install and issue with handle This door boasts an easy 45 min install. We were on hold with Anderson for 40 minutes because the door would not pull open to work on the inside hinges. It was locked to the frame. We ended up needed to remove all of the 10 screws from the frame, remove the door, open it and start over. Secondly, you can only use Anderson door handles. This is not highlighted when purchasing. I bought an Ideal brand handle for $20 that suited my needs. It does not fit. There is only 1 black handle offered by Anderson and it cost me $90. It is not available right now and so now I have a door installed that I cannot enter or exit through. No idea how long I need to wait for the handle. Buyer Beware!!

I had to finish the job myself and make some adjustments because he had done parts of the job incorrectly.

The upper screen is a nice feature, which should help to protect the screen from day-to-day use. This door is big departure from old aluminum screen doors! I wanted to highlight that the door can be custom ordered in-store with size and colour options that are not available on-line; I don’t think this is clearly described on the Home Depot website. Andersen provides helpful videos, which I used to help me measure for my custom order.

When the inside door is open we get more light in the front hall, more air flow with the upper screen and in the winter we'll get a tighter seal on the front. It was pretty easy to install although we took longer than 45 minutes. Overall about 1.5 hours but it was straight forward and the instructions are well done. The door is very good quality and fits and operates well. Highly recommended.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Problems closing when interior door closed I bought this storm door because our existing one longer closed without manually pushing it. Our new model 3000 storm door does not close completely when the interior door is closed because there is an air pocket created. Both the installer and Anderson phone support said the air pocket created when the storm door is closing preventing a complete closing is normal. The storm will close normally if interior door is open or we open the ventilation glass top.

Does this door come with hinges and all the other regular storm door things? Is there the thing that makes it close slowly? Is there the little metal square thing that you put on the spring to make it stay open if you're moving?

It comes with all necessary hinges, a lock, etc. The 'jack' which holds the door open while you move things through the door is on the very bottom of the door. It has a button on it that you touch with your toe to hold the door open. When you want to release the door so it closes, you just push the door more open and the 'hold open' button disengages. I'm very happy with this screen door.

Are there 1 or 2 pneumatic closures on the Andersen 3000 storm door?

Unfortunately there is only one at the bottom because the screen rolls up inside the top area. The reason it’s unfortunate is because this does not offer enough support on windy days and the closure rod will bend when fully extended and lets the door go too far. This can also result in the closure support on the door frame to bend and/ or be ripped out of the wall. Two weeks ago this happened to us and when I called Andersen Doors for a replacement through warranty they stated they don’t cover wind damage. I said I believed it was due to a poor design but I still had to pay for the new piece. Now, less than two weeks later it has happened again! Andersen Doors does not support putting a chain stop at the top so today I purchased a replacement closure from Rona+. I’m hoping the standard closure provided with most closures will provide better support than the fancy one that came with the door which is very susceptible to bending. Good luck!

The hinge bits in my door somehow flew out ... how do i fix this door?
