Instructions were a bit convoluted and did not match the video instructions AT ALL. More importantly, of the two I purchased one was clearly a repack. The orange tabs holding the screens in place were not attached and broken. One of the screen door tabs that aligns the door in the track was completely snapped off, it seemed to assemble properly but time will yell (am noticing the doors do not close freely as they should, and the screens bunch up). Overall, I'm underwhelmed given the cost.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Good if no wind If you live anywhere where there is wind, this will be a piece of junk in a few months. The screen is only attached to the retractor casing on the side, no support on the top or bottom. When the wind blows, it’ll start to stretch out the screen a bit. After a while, when it slides closed, it will start to crease on itself which eventually prevents it from opening smoothly and then eventually unable to retract at all. On my 2nd replacement in less than one year.

We had screen doors priced out for our French doors and some local companies were over two grand. We found these thanks to the help of the windows dept over the phone. I’m not going to lie, they were a bit of a pain in the a * * because our house is old, and the doors are 77.5 inches, not 80. We mounted it outside the frame, but had to remove stucco in order for it to fit flush. It was worth it! They look great, the main door retracts on its own nice and slow when you unclick the latch, and the other side is a little stiff to open/close, but we don’t use that side. I probably wouldn’t use these with guests over, because they seem a little finicky. I bought them to air out the house without bugs getting in, so they work great for me. I love them for the price.

Many concerns about the product could be avoided by doing so. Pick it up in store if possible as the on line price is $100 more with “free shipping”. I know this because I ordered and installed the first one, decided I wanted another. Prices it on line and happened to be in store (where it was supposedly not in stock) and there it was. On $100 less than on line. Sold. They both look great though— and work quite well.

When attached to the outside of your French door opening and a thin bead of color-appropriate, silicone caulk applied to fill any voids, they provide a fully “bug-proof” screen door. I had a handyman install both sets I had purchased and the install time was approximately 45 minutes to 60 minutes for each set. A very smooth operating retractable mechanism make these a great product you should enjoy for quite some time.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Disappointed in this door I bought and installed this door about 4 months ago. The assembly and installation was easy with the supplied instructions. The installed door looks good but that is where the goodness of this product ends. The springs that retract the screens are not strong enough. When you unlatch the door or doors, they open VERY slowly. If you try to speed the opening of the door up, the screen goes all loose and the whole process stops. Very frustrating door to use. I was expecting better from Andersen as they have a very good reputation for their products.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A great screan and decent price I love this door, it does stick at times but like a blind you make it taught again an all is well. We did have a minor hiccup with a part but a phone call and a couple of days and all was well. We do have a phantom screen as well but in comparison I prefer this one in looks and auto latch that isn't as good in the other screen. I would recommend this on merit and customer service.

My doors appear to be 72x79. Is there a way these can work?

It can retrofit an inch or so left-right, but not top and bottom, especially with a shorter main door frame. You might have to groove out an inch at the top or bottom of the main door frame to be able to fit in the screen door frame.

If your looking for an honest answer from Anderson your not going to get one. I just bought a outswing frenchwood door from Anderson and everything about it came back wrong. I asked that the active door be on the left side looking in. It came on the right. I asked for the retractable screen with matching wood for the inside it came with out the inside wood strips. The outside lower left and right jambs we’re both cracked below the hinged areas. As for your question , does their retractable screen work for and outswing frenchwood door? The Andes is yes because I have one. It seems the reply you got from Anderson Wasn’t even in reference to the door you asked about. I’ll never buy another Anderson product again

Yes but one has to be closed to close them both. They latch together you can open both close both but the right side patches to the left one of that makes sense. The left side can be closed and the right side latches to it but if you open the left side the right side has to be open too.
