The metal plate is very thin and bends easy, screws that hold the plate to the handle are not countersunk enough … when you wipe notch plate the screw heads stick out and prevent a good clean wipe of the notch plate. It’s going in the trash after this job.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Square-Notch Trowel This trowel worked well for applying thinset mortar to a wall for a backsplash - it scooped mortar well from the bucket and it was easy to notch the thinset for laying the tiles. The handle was pretty comfortable and it cleaned easily with water.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Simple and effective. Used this to fill a half... Simple and effective. Used this to fill a half inch Gap between floor and wall with white sanded grout. The floor is beige, and the wall is sea foam green. Why didn't I use beige grout, my wife asked, after the job was done. I'm not sure, But that's not the fault of the trowel. This is a great tool but it is not effective for color matching. Sorry darling.

We used this successfully on 5/16" thick 3 x 12 ceramic glossy tile with raised lip on all 4 edges. Double scrolling over the raised edges allowed the tiles to snap perfectly; even was able to remove 3/4" strips on the short ends. We removed the guide, as it was in the way for some cuts, and used the felt strips on the base pad as a guide for long straight cuts. TIP: It's hard to see where the scoring wheel hits the tile so I put a small piece of tan masking tape on the plate where the wheel ends; rolled the wheel onto it to make a slice in the tape, then marked the slice w black marker. Lined this mark on the cutter with the marks on the tiles for perfect cuts. It also helped to place the cutter on a surface where it could butt up to something secure to keep it from slipping while scoring. For our small tile job, this was totally worth the money compared to renting one. Scoring wheels can be replaced when dull.
