Rated 1 out of 5 by from Don’t waste your money The “salt free” softener does not work as advertised. I had to reinstall my salt water softener after 6 months of seeing continued hard water stains on my faucets, dishes and showers. I am completely disappointed that I made such an investment with no return and actually more problems than I had to begin. I would not recommend.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from loved it so much bought another I purchased the whole house filter and softener for our cabin last year. I has worked out so well, that when my fathers water softener went out just before Christmas, I bought him the whole house filter and softener as well. I'm just getting ready to purchase a 3rd system for my house in Scottsdale. The water doesn't have a slimy feel, it tastes amazing, and I know my family isn't drinking or bathing in anything that can hurt them. 100% recommend

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Overall Impression of Aquasas I really don't notice any difference in the water using the softener.I am really not sure if it is doing anything or know how to verify it is helping. Water doesn't feel or taste different. Water flow suffers a little after installation.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Our appreciation of our Aquasana products We already have the whole house filtration system, which is working fine, and then my wife asked me about getting a softener (water in Jax, FLA is really hard). I went straight to Aquasana and shopped. I knew I didn't want to haul salt, so I read the description and reviews for the whole house water conditioner. I purchased the item and had it professionally installed. OMG! What can I say; you won't get out of the shower, you'll start eating ice (without a drink) you'll use less detergent, and most importantly, she loves it too. Try it, you'll see...

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A high quality product I installed it myself, though I have plumbing experience. I do not necessarily recommend this as you absolutely do not want any leaks. It was straightforward and took me about an hour to cut and spice into my existing water line. I had no issues, but I am very meticulous when it comes to plumbing. It has only been a month, so I cannot comment yet on the descaling effect of the "softener". My water comes from a deep artesean well and was already of high quality except for the minerals. I do like that it has not changed the "feel" of my water that you see with traditional salt softeners. It does seem that the "pre-filter" has reduced the amount of sediment I sometimes see in my water. I like that I can change this filter inexpensively more frequently when I need it. I have no complaints and am optimistic it will do exactly what I was hoping for. I also thought it was a good value given the longevity of the "softener".

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Product still leaves stains on appliances I have had the whole house system for 6 months. So far everything is good. Only remark is that I have a hard water well and the product will still leave hard water mark/calcium buildup on appliances and showers.

What is the filterstion media

Does it remove nitrates from the water
Asked by: jim
Our whole home systems are only certified to reduce chlorine, since NSF is limited in the testing they offer for Whole Home systems. We do know that the media used can reduce volatile organic chemicals, herbicides, pesticides and other chemical compounds. We add a pre-filter to help reduce reduces rust, sediment and silt and a .35 micron post filter to remove particulates 60 times smaller than the eye can see. For nitrate reduction, please see our under counter Reverse Osmosis system. https://www.homedepot.com/p/Aquasana-OptimH2O-Reverse-Osmosis-Claryum-Under-Counter-Water-Filtration-System-with-Brushed-Nickel-Faucet-THD-RO-3-55/302890858 Thank you, Aquasana Customer Support

I would like to know if this system would be sufficient for a family of 4 and what upkeep is necessary and how often
Asked by: Margo
There are only 2 of us and it is more than adequate. We have really terrible water and it works great. The main filter has a long life and we haven't had to replace it, however, the small one is very easy to replace.

Does this item need to hook up to a drain system or just the water system'
Asked by: sandi
No drain, just the water system. We have very hard water (well system) and previously had a salt system. I hated the salt system, buying salt, lugging the bags, fitting it. My husband installed this Aquasana system (he is a licensed plumber) so unit is installed with the pre filter as well as an additional whole house filter. I can not recommend this system, while it may be easier, up to 600,000 gallons, the salt system did a much better job, I now have issues with water leaving rust residue, and I never did before. I promised I would not complain about the salt being difficult to handle, if he would rip this out and reinstall a new salt system. He will be doing so soon.

How can you consider this a, "water softener", when it doesn't remove minerals from the water?

I love the idea that no electricity or drain is required, but I need a water softener.....!
Asked by: Steve
Your are right, it is NOT a softener. Per Aquasana: " . . . separate the minerals while they travel through the pipes" Complaint after purchase and they will tell you that you have to spend another $500 for a true softener. I do not understand how they can get away with this fraud.

My water inlet pipe is 1", this kit uses a 3/4" fitting, will this cause issues with water flow in a 2500 sq-ft home with 2.5 baths. Plumbers seem to say this is a horrible idea.
Asked by: Rex
Yes, reducing the size will restrict flow rate. This is a fact of physics.

Our well water tests at CaCo3 31.3 GPF, iron 0.059 mg/L. Will it handle this?
Asked by: Bradley
Aquasana says " . . . separate the minerals while they travel through the pipes". Since not removed from the water then it is NOT a softener and through the magic of deceptive marketing they sell it as a softener THEN tell you that you have to spend more $ to add a TRUE softener.
