Rated 1 out of 5 by from Do not buy this product. Okay, so I really wanted this product to be good, but it's not. I have a lot of separate issues with these tiles. 1 – The colour of the tiles. If you do want to buy these tiles, go see them in store. The colour in the photos is very misleading. That's unavoidable to some extent because everybody's computer screen shows colour differently. What is avoiable, and inexcusable to me, is when the 12" x 24" tiles and the 12" x 12" in the same finish (walnut) are completely different colours. That's not cool at all. 2 – The quality control and precision of the tiles is terrible. Each tile has 5 slats that should be the same length. They're not. Often the variance is only an 1/8th inch or so, which isn't ideal but can still work it just makes the gaps between the tiles ugly and uneven. But I also had a few slats the were as much as 3/8th inches longer than the other in the same tile... so long that it interferred with even being able to connect the tile to the adjacent one. Additionally the cuts at the ends of the slats often aren't quite square, which also looks bad. This seems like really lazy and low-quality manufacturing. 3 – The bottom plastic grids that holds the slats and allows the tiles to snap together break extremely easily. Each package of tiles I opened would be full of little broken chunks of broken plastic. I had 174 sq. ft. of tiles to install and I'd estimate that in the range of 20-30% had damage. Most were still usable though. 4 – This is the biggest issue and why I would recommend avoiding this product — the tiles don't stay flat, they warp. I've had them bow up to a 1/4" over a 24" tile length. This make all the ends stick up which looks terrible and causes the tiles rock as you walk on them and sometimes disconnect of each other. It seems to be worse in higher heat and direct sunshine. To me, this is completely unnacceptable. I've attached photos to show the issues. This product is mostly for aesthetics as it doesn't provide a lot of function that the surface you place them on doesn't already offer. So the fact that is has numerous flaws that diminish its appearance is ridiculous. Maybe I just got a bad batch, but my experience is that this product is complete rubbish and I wouldn't take it again if it was free.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A Good Alternative, but..... This is a great alternative to composite decking mostly because it is a fraction of the price. This deck tile is meant to be installed as a floating floor, however there are some issues that I encountered that buyers should be aware of. I purchased the 12x24 size so that I would cover more area with boards as opposed to the square 12x12 tiles. After installing half the deck in tile, it didn't take long to find the tiles warping in the hot sun. First it was in the concave direction, so I decided to slide out each board and screw down the middle of the holder into the deck for each board (there are 5 boards to a tile), then slide each board back onto the holder. That took quite a long time. But then the tiles began to warp in the convex direction! And so once again, I slid out each board and put screws into each end of the holder for each board and then slid each board back into place again. Screwing the tiles in worked, but it took an incredibly long time to complete. I have a large deck - 26 ft x 14 ft. So much for being a floating deck! Then, the lines of tile would not line up. I installed them vertically across the deck, and after several rows and 6 or 7 tiles down, suddenly they would not line up to connect. Ugghh...frustration. I contacted Aura to find out about the warping and they said that the tiles are not supposed to warp. They offered to replace them but I wasn't prepared to go through the installation issues again. I knew they would warp again, and I don't think they understand that the 12x24 tile configuration is subject to warping in the hot sun if laid as a floating floor. Anyhow, I would still recommend these tiles as an alternative to composite. I finally finished the install and the deck looks fantastic! I would recommend that if you like the look of the 12x12 tile, purchase and install those instead. I doubt the 12x12 size will warp. I think that the 12x24 tile is just not sturdy enough to resist warping in extreme heat.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Tiles provide an upscale finish to your balcony We are pleased with this product. It was easy to install for the most part (cutting around the balcony supports was difficult). The finished product looks terrific, is easy to maintain and simply rests on the floor. The tiles are much more pleasant for walking on than concrete. Visitors are raving.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not as advertised Very disappointed. I was careful to select WALNUT color to match the color of flooring in my house, made sure to visit the supplier's website to confirm the walnut was really the walnut I wanted and BANG... received walnut color is NOT EVEN CLOSE TO WALNUT, this is more like HONEY TEAK... These ad pictures are very misleading (just noticed they display 12x12 tiles on 12x24 items). Considering the pandemic, the isolation and the size of my order, we tried to lay some down to see if we could live with this color but no, it does not match anything and we hate it. Unfortunately, I have been trying to contact customer support on this regard for days and nothing... I have waited for one hour and half on phone for nothing and the call back feature does not appear to be working... I am trying to return this product and get the color I want but apparently, I am stuck with this. :(

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Long lasting, easy to install and reasonable price This is my second purchase of these outdoor plastic tiles. While they are made of plastic, they look amazing with a natural 3-D woodgrain finish that fools everyone but the installer. I installed my first patio floor five (5) years ago, and the tiles still look brand new (I believe they have a 20-year warranty), despite the harsh winters and blazing summer sun here in Montreal. They are easy to cut (either with a regular hacksaw or a battery-powered mini circular saw) and attaching them is a snap (pun inteded). Several neighbours have seen them and gone out to install them themselves. They are available in 12X12 and 12X24 sizes, but I think the latter look amazing.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Tiles warped under the sun We placed the tiles over our concrete deck and they warped after 2 weeks - a complete waste of time and money. Do not recommend them

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Buyer Beware The “walnut” color is NOT AT all walnut. Not even close. In real life the walnut looks like the honey teak. I hate the color! I would have gone with a different product had I known. Due to being 3 hours from a store, mid-pandemic, and working front line, I wasn’t able to return.

Are there any reviews that are recent? All the ones I see are at least two years old.

If I use the 2 ft boards length wise on all 4 sides of my porch, will the 12 inch tiles connect to the long side of the 2 ft tiles so I can fill in the field with 12 x 12 tiles?

Asked by: Larry
I have bought different versions (same company) of the boards over the years.  The old ones had to fit a specific way.  The newer ones you can turn around any direction.  I also have the 12x12 inch tiles and they did NOT work well with the 12x24 inch tiles.  There may be improvements and newer models, so maybe this has changed.  So if you try, keep receipts and it would be nice to try right in the store but with COVID and the demo tiles usually screwed in so you cannot move them, this may not be possible before purchase.

Has anyone experienced the performance year after year in a Canadian winter? It doesn't fade, bend or warp? Is it scratch resistant?

can they be installed on an 18" joist span

Asked by: P J m
Hello P J m Thank you for your interest in our products. Aura deck tiles are designed to be a free-floating deck surface, which can be installed over an existing solid, flat deck or patio. They cannot be installed directly onto floor joists like traditional deck boards as they need the support underneath.

Hello, how many boxes will I need for a balcony measuring 12ft11" x 5ft?

Asked by: Aaron
this is a math question, not a product question, but I am great in math, so here it goes you basically want 13 ft x 5 ft.  so 13x5=65 square feet.  Each of the cases you buy says they are 10 square feet.  so 65/10= you need 6 and a half cases of the deck tiles.  Best of luck.

Can these tiles be cut and trimmed to fit?

Asked by: Shawn55
Yes,they can be cut to fit.It works better if you separate the boards from the backing as the backing sometimes shatters if you don't cut carefully.
