Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product matched with the battery I bought this along with the matenence free battery shortly after moving into my new house, the sump that was there previously had failed because the free floating bauble got stuck on the walls of the... well.. sump? The hole that the pump sits in. And it didn’t activate. It was during a storm the I decided to go and get this new pump and my well was filling every 2 minutes. After preparing the new pump outside the hole changing over the tube on top was easily done in the time that I had. I decided to not hook up the battery backup until the storm was over. When hooking it up I had an issue where the alarm would not stop going off. This was solved by putting the acid dip stick on the positive lead from the battery. The support that I was talking with was very knowledgeable about the product and knew exactly the problem and how to fix it. I’ve also learned that there is a hole in the pipe for the backup pump that is used to make sure the backup pump is fully submerged before it’s activated protecting the pump from dry running. Fast forward 11 months to today. Hurricane Dorian just swept through here and I’ve been without power for 6 days so far. Today I tested the battery to make sure it hasn’t fell below 12v and to my surprise the battery is still nearly FULLY charged I can’t recommend this product enough, never in my life have I had something that has worked so well with such good support behind it. 10/10 would buy again but I don’t think I’ll need to.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Good idea. Terrible pump. Terrible support. I bought the whole backup pump and battery unit a year ago. Since then, I've had more plumbing repair expenses than I paid for the units. First call to the company: they had no record of my warranty. Second call: well, they just don't return calls. More plumbing repairs. After a year, I yanked it out and put a good old fashioned sump pump in. No alarms in the middle of the night. No wondering why the main pump has failed to start (again). Yes, a backup pump is a good idea (I'm still searching)...just not this one.

Since it was within the two-year warranty, I returned the entire system to the manufacturer for repair. They fixed whatever was wrong with it the same day they got it and shipped it right back. Unfortunately, I had to buy a replacement sump pump in the interim, so now I have the ($$$) Watchdog sitting on a shelf.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Very Short Cycle Time - Constant on/off result I bought this for my sump pit and felt great that I had a backup plan for power outages that I wouldn't have to worry about if away for a day or two. However, now that its Spring, and the snow is melting and the rain is starting this pump simply does not keep pace. The pump comes on for 9 seconds (the manuals say the cycle time is 10 seconds so no big discrepancy here) but then has to come on again just 45 seconds later because it pumps so little water in 9 seconds. 9 seconds!!!!???? I don't see the purpose in 9 seconds. That means my pump literally turns on/off about 1500 times per day...which likely doesn't help with the life of the pump. It also quite loud whenever it shuts off, partially due to the pump itself shutting off and partially due to the check valve closing. Now this likely won't be a problem for most, but for us, we live in a bungalow right above the sump pit so this is a HUGE annoyance hearing it come on/off while trying to get to sleep or stay asleep. I've just today hooked up my old pump I had before this one (which only comes on about every 15 mins because it pumps the pit to about 1.5" deep before switching off which takes about 30 seconds) until Spring is done and things are drier. So for now the Watchdog is doing just that...watching. Consider the cycle time before purchasing this system.

I just install the sump pump tonight. Why do I always heard a sound that comes from the emergency pump (like it always running) but there is not enough water to even start the main pump ? Also, sometime, the green light just disappear like that..

Peut-être que vous êtes raccordé sur le 12 Volt seulement de la pompe de secoure en cas de panne de courant du 110Volts. Est-ce que vous avez vérifié si votre disjoncteur qui alimente ce circuit est débarqué?

Why won't backup pump suck water. Motor just hums!

    Asked by: Gilles
Is the intake on the pump completely submerged in water? That is where I would first look, especially if you think the pump is running.

I purchased the watchdog sump pump with battery backup and after installation the main pump works fine but has a high pitch squeal when pumping .I read in the booklet it has a built in check valve and my line has a check valve could this be the problem

    Asked by: rubbs
We do not recommend having another check valve in the discharge line above the system, as the system does have its own built-in check valves. This can cause several different problems. I would remove the check valve that you have in the line and replace it with a rubber union or a piece of rigid PVC pipe. I have my washing machine running into the water basin , Will this pump be able to handle the soapy water ? My old pump has no problem with this but it's time for a replacement and I would like to try this one if it works .

    Asked by: koolkatz
Our pumps are not recommended for use in a well that contains soap or any other chemicals. They are intended for use with clear, ground or rain water. The soap tends to build up and causes the float switch to get stuck. Regular maintenance will help to avoid this situation. A pump with a vertical switch would probably work much better in your application. Should you have any other questions, please feel free to call our Technical Support Team at 1-800-991-0466, Option 3. We appreciate your interest in our products.
