Rated 4 out of 5 by from Wood stain Nice stain for a wood deck. Goes on easily, dries relatively quickly and holds up for a couple of years.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The Best [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I redo decks for some customers. Always pressure wash first. I have used other sealants in the past, but once I users Behr Plus, I’ll never go back to any other. The stain goes on even and protects longer than other brands

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Mediocre [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This product does resist water well but it’s ability to hold color and finish more than a month or so makes it undesirable for a long lasting look. I find myself having to refresh my wood deck at least 3 or 4 times a year to keep it looking nice with this product. The finish goes dull within a months time.. In my opinion the only thing it does fairly well is resist moisture.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from No Strain Stain [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] After thoroughly prepping our 21 year-old pressure treated deck, it was time to restain again. Using a paint tray to contain and pad to apply, this product went on smoothly and evenly. After drying, the cedartone color was vibrant and the stain's semi-transparency allowed the wood's natural grain to add it's interesting character. Will definitely use again.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Mostly durable [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Used the water proofing wood stain on a large deck, held up well over the last year except where the redwood had knots and on the steps that occasionally get sprinkled.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Colors [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I use Behr semi-transparent stains on all my products. Customers love the color selection with Padre Brown being a fan favorite for my Adirondack Chairs. I’m currently staining mahogany pocket doors from a 150 year old brownstone with great results.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from beautiful color, lasts for years, easy to apply [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have repeatedly bought this paint over the years for large decks in the back yard and all round the pool. It is in full sun and i only need to paint it about every 5 years and some times longer. Easy application. I am 80 years old so i know about things that need to last. It looks lovely. thanks for a great paint

How much sealer needed to paint an 8 by 5 porch plus 4 steps

Asked by: Nancy
One gallon should do, it depends how the wood soaks up the stain. For what I stained I covered about 120 square feet and still have a little bit left over.

How well do gray tints stay mixed during (and after) application? I stained a new deck light grey semi-trans. with another brand, and the tint base and pigment were so poorly compatible chemically that, within seconds after mixing, the base and pigment would start separating out again. Very, very frustrating. Post-application, have also seen pigment components separating out on the deck (blues). How does the Behr product tinted gray behave in this regard? Does the gray pigment stay mixed long enough to apply it? Does it weather uniformly color-wise?
Asked by: DoctorData
It stayed mixed all the time even after a couple days.

I have a can of this that is about 5 years old. I want to stain something to match the existing deck that was stained 5 years ago. Will the stain still be usable?
Asked by: SueQ
Take it back to the store and ask it they will shake it up for you then look at it. The paint mixer may help you decide

Can this base be used as is without adding a tint color? The labeling says "do not use without the addition of tinting colorants". I bought it without realizing this. I am ok with using it without a colorant, but don't want to do so if it isn't going to work properly as a sealer and protector of my wood deck.
Asked by: Creese
Talk with the store about the issue. You definitely want it mixed

Does this mean the Deckplus Tint Base be colored? I am looking for light green, aqua and dark blue stain for my deck. I'm invisioning our deck to look like the Emerald Coast waters! Can't decide about color for rails and spindles, though...any suggestions?
Asked by: oceanlady
This is a base paint to be mixed to the color you need just like interior paint. There should be a book of color options in the store near the paint cans.
