Rated 5 out of 5 by from A Quality Product to Solve Problem Areas My first reason for submitting this review is that when I was looking for a good paint to cover the concrete parging at the base of my house exterior walls, the prior reviews for this particular paint seemed to be for a different glaze product, while this paint is flat and uniform in its hiding strength. The concrete parging on the exposed basement portion of the walls of my house had been repaired/patched in several areas and those repairs were very obvious as the concrete shades did not match. The only solution was to paint the affected wall portions a uniform colour. I was only going to paint the parging portions of the wall near the front entry, and along the complete driveway side and complete rear. Consequently I wanted the paint's colour and shade to approximate the unfinished concrete on the rest of the house's parging. (Those areas to be left alone were in perfect condition and mostly hidden by plants anyway.) Anyhow, bought this paint in Cobblestone Grey which is a close approximation of aged concrete parging. If I had intended to paint all the parging around the entire base of the house, then I might have chosen another colour to suit the other elements of the house exterior. One other thing to consider when choosing a colour and shade if there are repairs, any unevenness in the repairs will telegraph through any paint by tiny shadow lines depending on the sun's position. If the paint is very light, the shadow contrast will be greater and the repair more obvious. The darker grey I chose had less contrast with the slight shadows and the repairs were much better hidden. (I know because I tested a lighter shade of grey first.) As for application, the instructions specify a 19 - 25 mm nap roller, which would likely be needed on rough stucco or brick. (Personally, after painting the very rough finished stucco walls on my last two houses, I soon gave up on rollers and completely brush painted them in order to work the paint into all the crevises.) On this parging, which was flat and fairly smooth, a 10 mm roller worked fine, with a brush then being appled to the odd rougher area. Needed a paint brush anyway to cut in around the edges, so no problem. The paint went on easily and covered well and I might have made do with one coat. Because of the way concrete sucks in paint on the first coat, a second coat went on even quicker and more easily (and with more coverage) and uniformly perfected the overall look. Am very happy with the paint's coverage and the walls now look great.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic We painted the orange bricks of our house with this paint in white (Baker's Box colour) and we're completely happy with the results. The difference was very dramatic. It's like having a new house. I've always used Behr internal and external paints and love them.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Rainbow of color I have used several chalk paint brands and Behr is becoming my favorite! I am particular about the sanding for smooth finish and Behr goes on more smoothly than any other. Which means less sanding between coats and before waxing. Smooth final product with less effort . And the sky is the limit for color.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Creativity in a Can This faux glaze makes faux finishes easier than you think. The trick is to play with it on a primed and painted piece of wood, or even bristol board. It keeps your paint wet for a long time, so you can play with it until you get the finish you desire. The first time I used it, I faux finished my walls in my livingroom. It turned out great. Experiment with floppy rollers, rags, and saran wrap. They all leave nice designs.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Did the job I used this for a concrete block garden. It has only been a bit over a month, but seems to be holding up well. I used a glitter additive without any issues. The coverage was less (around 180 ft2 total for 2 coats) than what I expected, but maybe due to concrete blocks being more porous and not a smooth surface. It was just enough for what I needed.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Product isn't thick This product was a bit runny. It was really hard to work with to paint onto our bricks. We wanted to white wash our fireplace and we had to apply a couple of coats. We stirred it the can, shook the can and it was still quite runny.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Looks good Used this on my indoor brick fireplace. Turned out great. I have a gas fireplace which is purely decorative because I don't use it. I am not sure if this paint would be able to handle the heat of a normal fire place.

We have a stucco house with an addition with vinyl siding. We want to use the Behr masonry paint and want to know if I can use the same paint on the siding?

Asked by: QDK61
Hi QDK61 - Thanks for your question! We don't recommend applying this product to vinyl siding. We recommend checking out our Ultra Exterior paint instead which can be applied directly to vinyl siding, and is a great option for stucco as well. When painting siding, we also suggest choosing a color that's lighter or similar to the vinyl's original color to prevent the surface from warping. Best of luck with you project! - Sara

Asked by: Marie Josee
Bonjour et merci pour votre question. Oui, la peinture a un revêtement qui respire. Bonne chance avec votre projet! - Giovanna

Can this paint be used on a brick fireplace? (Meaning -- is it heat resistant?) Thanks!

Asked by: angelam
Hello angelam, thank you for your question. Our Masonry, Stucco & Brick Paint can be used on the exterior of your fireplace. However, we don't recommend using our paints over substrates that are exposed to extreme heat (surfaces that get too hot to the touch). Upon testing, we'd found that temperatures above 140F will cause the coating to fail. I would suggest checking with your local home improvement store for a more suitable product recommendation. Hope this info helps. Good luck with your project and happy painting! -Joanna

Does this paint start to peel after a few years?

Asked by: Abie
Hi Abie, Thanks for writing in with your question. It wouldn't be normal for the paint to peel after a few years. The key is to apply over a properly prepared surface for long-lasting results. Have a great day! Regards, Giovanna
