An interior/exterior, 2-in-1 cleaner and etcher specifically formulated to prepare the surface prior to coating. Designed to clean and etch bare concrete and masonry surfaces to improve penetration and adhesion of paints, stains and sealers. This biodegradable and easy water clean-up product will remove grease, oil, auto fluids, rust and red clay stains from any concrete and masonry surface.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from End result ok Used this to prep for Behr sealer. Had a new concrete garage floor. First, used baking Soda and vinegar. This actually worked too well... the placed where the baking sofa and vinegar mixed right on the concrete where cleaned so well it left a clean ... stain. I hoped that the Behr cleaner would etch this off, but if didn’t. Anyways, though it didn’t remove all dirt from the concrete surface, the sealer did bond well to the concrete after, so I’m generally happy with the result.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Home Depot guy said it would remove carpet glue Home Depot (Kanata) associate in the paint department told me to buy this to remove carpet glue off of concrete stairs. After spending a lot of time and effort to apply the product it did nothing - glue still hard as rock. Googled the product and according to the product usage guide it only removes stains. Big waste of time and $35.00. HD should train their employees on the products they sell or tell them to refrain from giving advice.

Hi. I just moved into a new house with unfinished basement. It has a concrete floor and I purchased Behr concrete & garage self priming to seal and paint floor. Cat has peed on it and I’ve clean it. Do I need to use other product before painting? Thanks

After applying this product, does it need to be neutralized prior to washing off of a garage floor? If so, what chemical can be used to render it less corrosive? Is there a significant difference in performance between this and muriatic acid?

Yes, we would recommend using a concrete cleaner, such as our Concrete & Masonry Degreaser & Cleaner after etching the surface to remove any etching residue on your surface prior to your application. Want to do my furnace room floor. If I used this product, will it corrode the the base of the furnace? Will the acid vapour have a corrosive impact on the air vents or other metallic objets hung up in the room?

Hi Alcout - Thank you for your questions. Our Concrete & Masonry Cleaner & Etcher can be corrosive to metal surfaces that it comes in direct contact with. The fumes can also be an issue for metal surfaces with prolonged exposure. If you're unable to use a chemical etcher in your furnace room, you may want to use a floor grinder to prepare the bare concrete. Alternatively, if the floor is already rough and porous, you can skip the etching step. To check for porosity, we recommend sprinkling water droplets throughout the floor. If the droplets soak into the surface right away, the floor is porous enough to paint or stain. Best wishes for your project! - Sara

I have stamped concrete driveway with the sealer applied on it, its not porus. I have noticed the color/stain of concrete is fading and would like to redo the concrete surface with Behr Semi permanent concrete stain. Will this be the right prep product?

I'm not sure about that.  I have some neighbours that have the same type of driveway and they reseal the driveway every couple of years and it seems to bring it back to its original colour....you might want to consider this first vs trying to redo the entire driveway.

I have a coloured patterned concrete driveway that is heavily faded and has lost its colour in several areas. Should this product be used prior to using a concrete stain to restain my driveway?

Hi Johny - Thank you for your question. If the concrete isn't porous, your driveway will need to be etched with our Concrete & Masonry Cleaner & Etcher. You can test for porosity by sprinkling water drops randomly throughout your driveway. If the droplets sit on the surface before soaking into the concrete, etching is needed. If the droplets immediately soak into the surface, you can skip this step as the surface is already porous enough to be stained. Good luck with your project! - Sara
