Rated 1 out of 5 by from Blotchy and not covering I purchased a condo and wanted to update cabinets with a modern look. Home Depot ee said that this would work beautifully. Purchased Dark Navy S530-7d. I have applied 3 coats (waited overnight before each application) and it still is blotchy and shows roller marks. ( not sure if you can see in photos but it looks like there are roller ridges when in fact it is smooth) I used a 4” foam roller. Having a quartz countertop installed next week and I fear that the look of these cabinets will make everything look tacky rather than classy. I can’t afford new cupboards. I would have left the old ones had I known this would happen.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Disapointed I have painted a number of pieces of furniture in the past with different paint brands and was always pleased with the results. This time I decided to use Behr Alkyd Satin Enamel to paint my dining room table and buffet table. I sanded and primed both pieces of furniture, then wiped it down before starting with the Alkyd Satin Enamel. Brush marks are visible even after a third coat. I completed the paint job a week ago and it is still sticky and tacky to the touch. A family member put a plate down on the table on the seventh day thinking it must be dry and when I went to remove the plate a ring mark was left behind. It looks like I will be repainting again!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Easy to work but unreliable Before painting our kitchen cabinets and doors i did research about how and what paint should be used. Behr Alkyd Satin Enamel got good reviews and so I went with it. The process of painting your kitchen cabinets and doors is very involved and I followed all the steps for best results. I sanded the doors and cabinets applied behr recommended primer, sanded between coats and applied as many as 3 coats of paint. I also let the doors dry for at least 3 weeks before reinstalling them. I just noticed that with a little drip of water the paint easily soften and peels off. Very disappointed with the product considering I invested alot of work. ABSOLUTELY NOT RECOMMENDED I am now finding out that w

Rated 1 out of 5 by from I have never been so disappointed in paint First off, this paint is not a satin finish. It feels like flat to me. I spent 2 days sanding down my furniture with 220 grit paper, wiping with mineral spirits, painted with Behr multi-surface primer and followed with the alkyd enamel after 24 hours. After two weeks of drying, the paint can still be scratched off with my finger nail. I wished that I checked the reviews before stepping foot into The Home Depot. I want my 4 days of labour back..... I want to curse when I think about it. DO NOT USE THIS PAINT. I'm pretty sure Crayola paint doesn't even scratch this easily.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Tired and disappointed I am 78 years old and decided to repaint my kitchen cupboards. I purchased the Melamine for its lasting ability. I followed the instructions of sanding, priming and left the doors for at least 2 weeks before putting them back on. Right after they were on I noticed at the corner of one, the paint had come off. Today when I opened them I saw that the vertical edge of one has the paint wearing off. And another one looks scuffed off on inside. The last time we painted these cupboards was about 7 years ago and the paint(not Behr) was just starting to show wear. I am too old and tired o start over again painting. There are still bottom cupboards and more upper sections. Can't afford to have a painter do it nor purchase another paint. Very disappointed.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Never dries Built brand new kitchen cabinets and used this paint for all the drawer and door fronts, did everything exactly as it specifies and they look amazing, HOWEVER I can't touch them because of how easily they scratch. We have waited a month now for these to dry and with three boys under three simply CAN NOT put up our new kitchen if it scratches this easily. I can press the back of my fingernail to it and cause it to dent. Unbelievable coming from such a well esteemed brand. So disappointed.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Cabinets Love this product for our white cabinets. However, we painted the lower cabinets Laguna Blue and it takes forever to dry! It’s been a month and the doors are still slightly tacky. Will it harden like the white has?

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Quality Issue about the Paint. I have tried a lot of BEHR products. Most of them are good. However, this paint takes forever to dry and easy to get scraches. The smell of paint is really bad and makes you feel nausea.

Can this paint be tinted to a deep black similar to BM oynx. Can this paint be thinned for spray application using LVLP 1.7mm needle

Asked by: jimmer
Hi jimmer, Thanks for writing in! Yes, the Alkyd Satin Enamel can be custom tinted to the color of your liking; just bring the color swatch into the store to have the associate create a custom formula. As for application: it's not recommended to thin the paint. If spraying, we advise to use an airless sprayer with a .013"-.017" tip and a 60 filter mesh so that the paint can be sprayed at packaged consistency. Hope this helps!

I am painting a small table and purchased a melamine finish. Can I apply a gloo top coat to this and if so...what do you recommend I use?

Asked by: Avia
Hi Avia, Thanks for your questions! Our Alkyd Satin Enamel can be topcoated with other water-based coatings. You may also want to reach out to the company that makes the gloo topcoat you're interested in to ensure that their product will adhere to a synthetic oil-latex coating. Best wishes for your project! - Sara
