Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not sure if this worked as intended We applied this product to untreated, somewhat weathered wood (siberian larch) after cleaning with the all-in-one cleaner. The cleaner worked very well. The oil product was very easy to apply with a pad, nice to work with and tools cleaned up easily. It took a few days to fully cure. We stayed off it until it was very dry to the touch. At first we were pleased with the results - the colour of the wood was deepened but kept a natural appearance with low sheen; and water beaded well. However, after no more than a couple weeks wear, the beading was gone and the appearance started to grey. Also, since oiling we have found it difficult to clean the wood properly; dirt seems to stick to the surface more. Maybe the wood needs another coat for the oil to work more effectively? We will probably apply another coat and see how that works.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not Happy We extended an existing cedar deck and found this stain was horrible to work with. It did not go on evenly on new cedar boards and looks splotchy. When we applied this stain the the old cedar even though it was washed and sanded and to prep it for stain the stain turned the cedar boards very dark almost black so the old cedar boards do not blend in with the new ones. We are very disappointed in this stain.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product This shows the wood grain and will not peel or need to be sanded for future coats. The Behr semi transparent is more like paint which peels and covers up to much.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This is the "good stuff" Oil is the best for fences. Don't fall for the marketing gimicks the water based-imposter or you will just be re-applying sooner. Sprayed only 1 coat to very thirsty 10 year old fence. Soaked in and brought a deep rich natural color. it wont peel like paint so I expect it to last several years before re-application.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good quality deck oil This deck oil is great. Easy to put on, looks great and so far is protecting well. I will just have to see how it holds up to time and weather.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from One season results! Purchased both cleaning product, cleaned as recommended and result was fantastic. Sadly the deck looks faded and washed out entering it's second season. Too much work to last only one season!

These reviews sound great! How many square feet will this container cover, and how often does it need to be re-applied? For cleanup, is turpentine recommended, or something else? I have about 50 new 6x8' cedar fence panels to cover. thanks!

Asked by: JoanL YVR
Hello JoanL YVR, thank you for your question. Each gallon of our Penetrating Oil Wood Finish covers about 250-300 Sq. Ft. So, a 5-gallon bucket should cover about 1,250-1,500 Sq. Ft. We suggest using Mineral Spirits to clean your application tools and do your clean-up. It's hard to say how long you'd need to wait to re-apply your stain, as it's a self-weathering product and it will depend on the elements it will be exposed to in your region. So, I would suggest doing a water test in about a year or two to see if your surface is still protecting your wood. Hope this info helps. Hope you have a marvelous Monday! -Joanna
