Rated 1 out of 5 by from Horrible, we are filled with regret We stained our deck with this product in the ‘chocolate’ colour. It looks like terrible cheap paint. We prepped the deck, did it first thing in the morning to avoid the sun. It dried so fast as we were brushing between boards it was leaving overlap marks when we would coat the top surface. We worked a board or two at a time in small areas and still had this issue. I’m disgusted and don’t know what to do next. Pay more and strip it? Sand it? Deal with it until next year, the reviews say it’ll flake off by then anyhow so maybe less work to redo it at that point? It’s been 3 days and it’s still a little tacky. I wish I had read the reviews first. Our deck looked better before when it was ‘naked’.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from More like paint than stain We just stained our deck with this and are not happy with the result. Unfortunately the appearance looks like a cheap paint. It has almost a film on top of it. We did everything according to instructions. Cleaned, applied on a cloudy day. Not happy with the result. Will be turning the boards over and starting again. Before doing your deck, do one in an inconspicuous place to see if you like the result.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Still Tacky after 4 days I stained my deck as directed 4 days ago and it is still tacky to walk on. I live in Atlanta which is hot and humid. Will it ever dry? Reviews on other sites say it must be stripped and use a different stain. UGH

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Did not last even one year Summer of 2019 I had my decks stained. The product already this spring had many bare spots on the wood. For sure don’t use the semi solid that I did on my other deck. That is peeling off in many places. I did proper deck preparation and had a professional painter apply. This is the second year in a row the product has not held up and the deck needed restaining

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Still tacky after 3 weeks and uneven I pressure washed and cleaned the deck before applying, but the surface is still tacky after about 3 weeks of drying. It feels like I'm walking on a sticky movie theater floor. Very disappointing. It also went on unevenly - the areas that were overlapped when I applied it are very obvious, even though I made sure to wipe up any excess material and drips. The thought of redoing this project makes me very sad... Ugh. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Did not hold up In June 2019, i cleaned and prepped my cedar deck. Lots of hours and work went into removing all old stain and getting it ready to reseal. I debated on which stain to use and finally settled on Behr premium semi transparent. The stain went down easy and the finished product looked good. Well, that look didnt last long. This spring i noticed many areas where the stain was flaking/peeling. Very disappointing considering the time it took to prep the deck. I live in Michigan which has fairly harsh winters but i would expect to get at least a couple years out of a stain. I dont recommend this product and will definately use another brand next time. This was the worst performing stain i have ever used. Would have rated 0 stars if that was an option. Save your money and buy something else.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from 36 hours it is still sticky, Prepted according to Behr directions...went on great. Put 2 coats on and after 36 hours it is still sticky. What is going on here ?

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Looks great but sticky Used the transparent waterproofing wood finish for two Adirondack chairs. It’s been over 72 hours, but they’re both sticky! I cleaned, sanded, and made sure to put two thin coats. Not sure what’s going on. Do I need to add a sealer? What can I do?? I spent so much time prepping and staining. This is heartbreaking Also, the Waterproofing Wood Finish, goes on more like a paint than a stain. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

I applied semi-transparent on my pressure-treated deck a few years ago and it faded uglily in spots after only 1 year. Don't remember the brand. Is this product very very light tint, or is there a transparent product you would recommend? thanks

    Asked by: Stuart
Hi Stuart, I'm sorry to hear that! This stain is quite sheer but still adds a nice pop of color. We have transparent wood finishes available as well. I recommend looking into our Premium Transparent Waterproofing Wood Finish No. 500-N. ~Doris

My Fence is 2 years old and never been painted...I'm getting ready to put a semi transparent stain on and was wondering do I need 2 coats of stain or just one coat??

    Asked by: Mike
Our fence was just over 1 year old.  We did 2 coats of paint and are very happy with the results.  It didn't take long to do the second coat.

can this product be used on pressure treated lumber?

    Asked by: jimmy
Hi jimmy, Thanks for writing in! Yes, the Semi-Transparent Wood Stain can be used on pressure treated lumber; just make sure to give it at least 6 weeks to dry out before staining. Hope this helps, and good luck on your project! Best, Jeanette P.
