Rated 4 out of 5 by from Suits My Needs Bought this electric chainsaw primarily for pruning thicker branches and taking down smaller trees. Easy to put together (after watching online how-to videos) and not too heavy to use. The 2 things I don't like about this chainsaw is that it is difficult to see the oil level through the window and you have to check the chain for tightening every few cuts of only 3" diameter branches. I'm not sure how well the chain will stay on if cutting 10" plus diameter trees or logs. For my purposes, this chainsaw works well.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Worth it. This is a good one. Powerful and easy to use, especially when you look at the price.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy to use and maintain The chainsaw was easy to use and it helped me to cut down a tree of 1.5 feet in diameter within 30 min. I used the chainsaw to cut everything to less than 1 meter so that the city garbage truck had taken whole tree away. It is power enough and very useful for work around a house where electricity is not an issue. It is easy to maintain since it does not use gas or battery. I do not use it very often but it will be very handy when I need it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good saw for a good price I saw this chainsaw on sale and decided to give it a whirl. I already had a 100' cord for other yard tools. Not having to worry about charging batteries or having them burst into flames someday is a bonus. I only had a few jobs to do with it and it was priced right. It was easy to assemble the blade and chain. I had it running 10 minutes after opening the box. Tensioning was easy too. It doesn't come with chain oil so don't forget to grab a bottle. The "fill window" is white plastic and pretty much impossible to see the oil level through. It should have been made clear but nope. I had to cut 14 fence posts that were 6"x6" thick. The chainsaw went through them like a hot knife through butter. After that, I took a bunch of low branches off my pine tree and diced them up in seconds. The saw has lots of torque and can power through anything. The blade stayed plenty sharp after all that work. The fast-stop function works very well too. Let go of the trigger and the blade stops instantly. The saw is pretty heavy due to the electric motor but the handles are very sturdy so I didn't have any trouble with it. It's well balanced. It comes with a plastic blade cover so when the job is done, you slide that cover on and its safe to move around or put away. There's no removable safety key or anything so if you have young kids around, you should lock this thing inside a storage cabinet like any other potentially dangerous power tool. I don't have need for a chainsaw often and I knew that a gas-powered saw would end up sitting around with old gas in it and then never start when I need it. Batteries have to be maintained and eventually replaced and they often quit half way into a job. To solve those issues, I figured a corded electric chainsaw would suit my needs. It worked like a champ.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good Tool Excellent tool for medium size cutting work. The only complaint I have is that the chain became dull too soon, and I could not find replacement chain on the HD web-site. Ended up ordering some third party chain from the internet, hoping it would work. It did, so I enjoy my chainsaw again. But I would rather have bought a replacement chain from HD.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Chainsaw It got the job done that we needed it to do. However I was shocked by the fact that I had to assemble it when it came.

Need to know if blade of 18-inch 15-Amp Corded Electric Chainsaw flips horizontal to vertical

Asked by: Yorch
It’s not like a hedge clipper where the blade can rotate. It works like a regular chainsaw, so it can be held in any position.

Does it come with oil for the chain?

Asked by: André
The saw does not come with oil. Use a high quality bar and chain oil for proper chain and bar lubrication. As a temporary substitute, a non-detergent SAE30 weight motor oil can be used. The use of a vegetable based bar and chain oil is recommended when pruning trees. Mineral oil is not recommended because it may harm trees. Never use waste oil or very thick oil. These may damage your chain saw.

Could I run this saw on a 1000w inverter?

Asked by: LazySuzan
The saw is 15 amps, using the equation that relates amps volts and watt's = volts x amps = 1800 watt load.  So it would be inadequate.

What is the drive size for this chain saw? The specs say that it is an 18-inch .050 gauge with 3/8" pitch but it doesn't say the drive size. Home Depot does not have the replacement chain numbers (original part #90609779 and Oregon #9162).

If i am running the saw on a 25 foot heavy duty extension chord on an 15 amp GFI breaker will the breaker trip?

Asked by: Meryl
This saw is a 15amp, so because the GFI Breaker is also 15 amp there is a high possibility that it will trip the breaker but that depends on different factors, for example, if the chainsaw is the only device on the circuit, and it's running at full load, especially if there are any power surges. Also, the use of an extension cord can sometimes cause a voltage drop, which could potentially increase the current draw and increase the chances of tripping the breaker.
