Rated 5 out of 5 by from GOOD PRODUCT Time will tell if this will effectively waterproof, but after trying it for the first time I like the way it goes on and certainly appears like it'll do the job. I applied using a brush on wood so found that several coats about 3 hours apart are necessary to build up the thickness to the point where the colour is a consistent "ocean" (dark) blue such that the substrate isn't visible. Assume this is the intention. If so, would be nice if instructions explained this. The other thing I'm not sure about is the coverage. It states on the container that 3.87 litres (1 gal) covers 30 sf. That's pretty thick and requires 6-7 coats to use that much since it's tough to spread thick with a brush, presumably so with a roller or trowel also. I'd like to know if this coverage is correct in order to get the required thickness. I plan to paint the exposed membrane above grade, and my test sample indicated a good adherence after only a 24 hrs dry time. Think I'll wait longer since one of the comments indicated painting after cure which means 28 days.

Can you use a roller brush to apply

Asked by: Ravi
Yes I used a combination of a brush and roller. I used a brush to get into all the fiddly bits and a roller for the main part. Very happy with how it turned out.

I am putting on a wall liner above an existing bathtub. The walls in place are regular drywalls (not waterproof). Can I use this product to make them waterproof/moisture resistant, and then glue the liner directly onto the treated surface of the drywall?

Asked by: Loom
Hi, Thank you for this question. Yes! Make sure the Blue Seal is completely dry before glueing the liner in place.

House has elevator installed. In Spring, wall, floor of the pit are sometimes damp.Want to waterproof the pit. It says Blue Seal can be applied with a trowel or sprayed. Can I use garden sprayer with dilluted Blue Seal or do I need power sprayer?

Asked by: Jean
Blue Seal is manufactured to coat exterior walls, below grade and with protection board. It can be used on interior applications but would require a weighted covering to prevent it from bubbling and peeling, i.e. before a ceramic tile application or under a subfloor installation.

So I need to waterproof horizontal joint between exterior brick wall and concrete slab as water seeps through that joint inside the houses. Will this work if I cover that joint.

Asked by: Jeet07
I’d say you’d be better to use a heavy duty exterior caulking for concrete surfaces.

Can you confirm the coverage of 3.87 L per 30 sf please? Is that to get the required thickness? Also, do I have to wait the 28 days full cure time to paint?

Asked by: Doug
I personally got way more than 30 sq ft from the container, it may have been 90 and I did put it on thick. It covers much better than paint-like gritty sealers and does a better job. After a few hours, it was cured for me, but I did not paint over it. It does not harden, but remains pliable. It is behind my insulation so I did not paint

Can you use this product to fill and water proof an expansion joint all around the perimeter of a concrete floor?

Asked by: Danny
No, the product goes on thin much like a layer of paint, it dries to a transparent look. Use a concrete calking, available in tubes in the concrete isle.
