Rated 5 out of 5 by from So far so good We've been using this for a couple of weeks on low. We have already cleaned the outside filter once. Presumably the inside filter is working just as hard. The real test will be allergy season in the spring. But I'm happy so far. Winter weather (and forced air heat) usually brings considerable chest discomfort for me, but I'm feeling pretty good! The noise is not noticeable during the day but it does annoy me at night when I'm trying to get to sleep. I'm sensitive to noise, your mileage may vary. We do keep it in the bedroom. All in all, I'm pleased. We don't turn it off. We were influenced by the Consumer Reports review.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Quiet with Noticeable Difference We are Seniors over 65, and have owned 3 of these Blue Air 211s for almost TWO YEARS. We use them 24 hours a day to keep our air clean inside our home. I have sensitive ears and these are very QUIET. We did the research- Consumer Reports gives this the highest rating. We now have a noticeably healthier environment. There are 3 settings.The lowest is GREAT for sleeping. A small SOFT white LIGHT glows. The light turns orange when it's time to change the filters. FILTERS LAST a long time. It's cool, modern. Clean air is more important now than ever. This machine works SAFELY, and we tell everybody we know to get these. Great customer service for your questions.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from So far so good. I bought this because my dog has allergies to what I'm assuming is the pollen, dust, mold spores, gross things, ect. in the California air. I also noticed I'd have a significant amount of dust in my room after just one day of cleaning. So I did my research and purchased this unit. It's extremely quiet on the lowest setting- I can barely hear it. Even on the higher settings it's a reasonable amount of noise, as much as a small fan would put out. While I haven't noticed a difference in my dogs allergies just yet, I have noticed less dust in my room. It's also visually appealing. So far I'm pretty happy with it!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A silent workhorse I initially put a 211+ in the bedroom several years ago. It helped immensely with room’s air quality. It was purchased for an asthmatic adult living with two cats and a dog in a regularly cleaned but dusty house. I added another for the living room and it works well too. The pre filters are machine washable so I swap two sets while I wash the other once a week or so. With dust and dander in the house I find I need to change filters every five months with the units running on their most economical setting. This is also the quietest. Altogether, a well designed and minimally invasive unit. In a high traffic house, perhaps put one in every room. Recommended.

Previous to installation, we both woke congested, and now we wake feeling better, easier to breathe, and not congested. We have used the Pure 211+ for three weeks and we are happy, after extensive research, that we decided to purchase this unit. The ordering process was easy, the unit was delivered quickly and packaged well, and the instructions were thorough making it easy to set up. We also signed up for the replacement filter subscription, which will save us $$ for every 6 month replacement and we won't have to remember to place the order. Well done BlueAir!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from It really does the job I bought this in mid-June and have been really impressed, We've had a very smoky summer so far and the air in our bedroom, where we have the filter, is noticeably better than in the rest of the house. It's probably time to start thinking about adding a few more. My husband used to wake up every morning sneezing and that hasn't happened except for just a few days ago. He later discovered he had knocked the plug out of the wall sometime in the night. He is now a believer too! It is very quiet in nighttime mode, but with the heavy smoke, we've been running it in the higher setting. It's still a good background hum, not rattley or high-pitched, so easy to sleep with.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Appreciable difference in air quality I am not a huge fan of air filters, because they mostly just seem to be low-grade fans that move air around and make little difference in overall air quality. But after the fires in Northern California my whole household was coughing from ashfall, so we decided to give this a try. After 24 hours, we could feel a significant difference between being inside with the filter running and outside. And having left it running since then, we've noticed our usual fall allergies are less profound while in the living room where the filter lives. It's quiet, unobtrusive, doesn't blow air around too much, and works pretty well.

I have the 211 plus auto in the center of my apartment so it perfectly cleans the shared air for my kitchen, dining and living room space. I mostly enjoy the auto fissure every time I start cooking it comes to life and help remove a lot of the smoke and food odors which I really appreciate since our kitchen doesn't have an extractor just the one that pushes the air forward. The auto sence feature really does work I've been messing with it to test it out. Every time I turn on my essential oil diffuser it detect those particles also I've burn some sage from far away and again it worked. Can't recommend it highly enough.

Does this retain its state on power off/on? Like if it's on and the power goes out or it's unplugged, when it's powered back up is it immediately back on, or do you have to switch it back on?

OK I have purchased a number of good quality units. I am still not satisfied with dust removal. We have a 10-year-old Energy Star home. Very tight. Will the 211+ actually make a difference and reduce the dust that accumulates daily.

Does it matter where you place the air purifier in the home?

Hi, Thank you for this question. The 211+ Blueair Pure Blue air purifier can be placed anywhere within the home where it is needed. Be sure to give the unit at least 6 inches or 15cm of space on all four sides to allow for proper circulation. Also, the filter should be changed every 6 months for optimal performance.

Does this unit have both a hepa filter and a charcoal filter?

Yes, and I purchased the Blue Pure 211+ base in CBC's Market Place review of similar devices with testing done by the University of Toronto. Its cubic metres per hour (m3/hour) (CADR) was test and found to be 560 m3/hour, which I think is better than what the manufacturer promissed. Looking to purchase blue air 211+, however it comes in various colours, I want to make sure I get the black colour. What is the sku number so if I am ordering on line i know I am getting the right colour?

The ‘black’ is a pre-filter that is removable for cleaning.   Two pre-filters come with the PureAir.  The other colour is a bright blue.   You should be able to order extras separately if you need another black.   Great machine.
