The Classic 205 is the next generation of the best-in-class Classic 203 air purifier, with an increased room size of 18 percent, it's ideal for rooms up to 279 square feet. Providing performance, you can count on, all Blueair purifiers are independently tested and verified by the Association of Home Appliance Manufacturers (AHAM) for Clean Air Delivery Rate (CADR), rated by ENERGY STAR, and tested by the California EPA Air Resources Board for no ozone emissions. It is recommended to replace the filter every 6 months, depending on use and environment.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Blueair classic always great quality We have several air purifiers to help with allergy season in the spring/fall and flu season in the winter. I purchased this one for my daughter to take to her dorm. I debated between the 205 and 480i. I wanted the simplicity of the 205 as she couldn't hook it up to wifi at school, but the CADR of the 400 series so she could keep it on low. Ideally, I would have purchased the 405 but it seems to have been discontinued in the United States. I didn't want to pay extra for the i series when the added features would never be used. I ended up choosing the 205 for simplicity, size, and price. It is definitely a 5 star air purifier (as are all the Blueair purifiers we have owned are). However, it is louder than the 480i and 605 we own when on speed 2. All three are very quiet on speed 1, and very loud on speed 3. However, the 480i and 605 are also pretty quiet on speed 2 while the 205 is quite noticeable on speed 2. Great for her room at home as speed 1 keeps the pollen out. However, at the dorm I would be more comfortable if she use it at a higher speed as I worry about close living quarters and flu season. The 205 would be a perfect fit for a kids room, but I will go with the 400 series or HealthProtect 7410 when the next child moves to the dorm. Would love to have the classic 405 as an option... all the power and protection of a classic with less bells and whistles.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Runs quietly but wish it took up less space I bought this to prepare for the upcoming fire season. My husband is sensitive to background noise and was worried it would be too loud but it runs nice and quiet. Personally, I wish it took up less space because it's not particularly attractive. But if it works wonders filtering out wildfire smoke, I'll come back and bump my rating up to 5 stars.

I agree with the air purifier ratings from Consumer Reports and consider Blueair among the best. I run 3 Blueair 205 units, one for each level of our home. We appreciate our continually clean indoor air, especially during smoky days from wildfires.

I'm glad that I bought it, because we now also have wildfires creating poor air quality in Washington and the air felt so much better with the air purifier on inside! I'm very happy so far. My only complaint is that I can't yet connect the unit to the app.

Hi, Thank you for your question. The CADR rate for the Classic 205 is 200 cfm for pollen and dust, 180 cfm for smoke, delivering 5 air changes per hour.
