Rated 5 out of 5 by from Solara fire bowl We just bought this recently. This is a great portable fire bowl. We have a full size fire table as well which we use almost year round and love it. We bought this for the balcony off our bedroom and we love relaxing by the fire just before bed. It produces lots of warmth. So much so that we haven’t needed to turn it on full as of yet. The best thing about this fire bowl is that it is lightweight which makes it very portable! Love it!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great LIttle Fire Bowl Very minimal assembly and all you have to do is put the stones in the bowl and attach the handle to the cover. The lid locks so you can easily carry it around.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Portable fire bowl. We bought this because of the fire bans. It was great. Easy to operate and at the end of the evening, we just shut it off and went to bed - no worry about extinguishing the wood or smoke. Most evenings we had 6 people around it with no problem.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Just what I was looking for Great little unit! Throws off plenty of heat and it really portable with the locking lid, which is what I was going for...either moving it around to different areas in the yard or with me with I am travelling to a trailhead in colder weather and need some outdoor heat.

Can this fire bowl be converted to natural gas

I am looking for a small fire feature for a balcony they prefer gas units the balcony is about 4 ft deep by 24ft. long by 10ft high with concrete overhead would this unit be suitable? I was also planning on using a 5lb tank for supply.

Asked by: Nick
Nick, We would not recommend use of this portable fire pit on any composite deck material. We also have clearance recommendations, that the 4 ft depth (2 ft clearance on either side), makes it unsafe to use on your deck safely. Here are our clearance guidelines: The unit must be used in a very well-ventilated area, this means it cannot be used indoors or in an enclosed space. It is perfectly safe to put the unit on concrete, rock or stone surface as long as it is flat and leveled. Please do not place this unit on a combustible surface or on a composite wooden deck. The unit must be kept at least 10 feet away from all combustible materials on all sides of the fire pit and must at least have a 4ft clearance from any surrounding wall or surface. It must also have a minimum clearance of 7 feet above the unit starting at the tabletop portion of the fire pit. Please note that placing this under overhanging trees and shrubs is not recommended. I'm sorry to answer you question in the negative, but the 4 ft width just makes it a little too narrow for safely using our fire pits. If you have further questions, please contact us at Happy2Help@Bondmfg.com.

Does this need a cover in the rain?

Asked by: Emily
Other than putting the lid on the firepit to keep the lava rocks and the flame tubes dry it does not need any special additional cover. Its lid direct water to the outer perimeter and it drains down the inside edges. There is plenty of ventilation in the body of the firepit such that it dries out on its own pretty well.

I see that Home Depot Canada is selling a natural gas conversion kit for Bond appliances. Model # 68591|Store SKU # 1001076012. Can this kit covert the Solara fire bowl from LP to NG?

Asked by: Bakchee
If you already have an existing natural gas hookup, and you just want the option to connect the fire bowl to it, all you need to do is buy a natural gas hose. It easily screws onto the fitting on the bowl. All you need to do is remove the Propane hose. Much cheaper than buying the kit.

What's the difference between the Solara and the Aurora?

Asked by: Centaur
I'm not familiar with the Aurora. I took a look at the pictures and they appear to be very similar. Specs are similar as well. I would purchase the least expensive of the two.

how can I use this with a 5lb tank?

Asked by: JanetDR
I wouldn’t use it with a 5 lb even if you had an adapter. It will burn through that super quickly.

Can I put Solara steel bowl on my glass outdoor coffee table?

Asked by: lorlor
lorlor, Thank you for asking. The Solara Steel Gas Fire Bowl is not intended to be used on top of any table. There is no heat directly beneath the fire bowl, but just a few scant inches from the lip of the bowl, the heat may cause damage to any surface. We recommend placement on level dirt, cement, stone or a solid wood deck. Please do not place the unit on a combustible surface or a composite deck. We have other products specifically designed to use on top of any patio table with an umbrella hole in it- please look for Tabletop Firebowls and you may find a product to safely and better suit your warming needs. If you have any further questions, please don't hesitate to ask our customer service team at Happy2Help@Bondmfg.com or available from M-F 8am-4:30pm PST at www.Bondmfg.com. Have a happy Monday!

Can this be used under a metal awning? We are thinking of placing it on a concrete patio that has a metal roof that is about 8 feet high - would the heat be too much for the roof? The patio is open-air other than the roof.

Asked by: Heather77
Heather 77, Thank you for reaching out. It is recommended that your Fire Bowl not be used near any flammable objects, and three feet clearance from any fences or walls. It does need a height clearance of 7 feet from the table height. It sounds like the height clearance on a 8 foot high patio roof would not be high enough. I would recommend placement on the open-air side for use for fire safety and to prevent damage to your patio roof. If you have further questions, our agents are reached easily through email at Happy2Help@Bondmfg.com or Live Chat on our website M-F 8am-4:30pm PST. www.Bondmfg.com. Have a terrific day!
