[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I needed a few of these for a deck project I was doing so I could attach the footers to the deck. I've seen others commenting about how they didn't last very long but you have to think about the materials and the price point these offer. These are an inexpensive option for someone who doesn't need to use them on a professional project. There are more expensive bits for that type of work. Also, if you keep using them when they are red hot, they are going to burn out faster. Using a hammer drill helps as well.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was pleasantly surprised to find out you get four drill bits. They have carbide tips for long life and can be used with a corded or cordless drill. You have to have a minimum of 3/8 inch chuck size. I used it to drill concrete retainer wall blocks and it worked great. We also built another deck using concrete footing and this bit drilled the holes for the screws with no problem. I recommend these bits because they are made very well and last a long time.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I love these things to do small masonry cuts, notching, and slotting. I have used these to do rough cuts for ceramic tiles in places where the cuts won't be seen, because these are good but they are not for fine or finished cuts. Example? Cutting a whole for a toilet or 1/2" pipe. I would recommend buy more than one just because depending on what you are doing the first may get a bit "dull" before finishing a large job.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Junk Bought this because there were no more robust 1/8" masonry bits in stock. I am not a novice DIY'er, followed all instructions for low RPM, applied modest pressure only in the direction of the bit, no hammer mode, etc verbatim from the label and bit snapped off drilling into plaster/masonry wall of our rowhome less than a minute into first use. I own larger diameter Bosch Bluegranite Turbo bits that are excellent, but save your money and don't buy this one.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Having never used a masonry bit this was a new task for me. It was just like using any other bit but it worked on brick. I had some small projects around the house that this was perfect for. I didn't need anything special when using it and it went right through the red brick with little effort. Now I feel more confident to purchase larger bits to tackle some larger scale projects.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have been a building and remodeling contractor for 48 years now, and as such I often have need for masonry drill bits. While these are tiny compared with what I typically use in a workday, they have their place from time to time. These might be used to attach small items to masonry or to concrete. They will need to be used in a typical drill that can do this type of drilling.

X 3 IN. CARBIDE FAST SPIRAL MASONRY BIT is a necessary tool in any tool box. Regular bits will simply not work in masonry. These bits come in different sizes depending on the size of the hole you are trying to drill out. I have used mine several times and it's it's still working fine. You may have to keep a spare one if you drill lots of 1/8 holes. I do.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This looks pretty much like a standard masonry bit. It has the special cutting edge welded into the top. The package warns us not to use hammer mode when using the bit, which may be hard to remember. Perhaps that limitation is due to the very small size (⅛”) of this drill bit. I was able to drill into cinder block OK, so long as I did not hit a stone in the cement.

Will this be the correct size diameter for using 3/16" Tapcon screws? My house has brick exterior walls and I wanted to be sure I got it right when not using any anchors.
Asked by: VaidyS
Thank you for your question. The BM2001 masonry bit has a 1/8" diameter, if your Topcon screw recommends this size, then it will work for brick drilling. For further assistance, contact us at 1-877-BOSCH99 (1-877-267-2499) from Mon-Fri 7A-7P CST.
