Bosch Speed Clean drill bits are built using a solid piece of steel with a dust channel that's milled to Bosch specifications to extract dust while drilling, creating 25 percent greater drilling speed. The dust extraction bit system saves time, saves money and produces 90% less dust than traditional drilling methods. The bit life is comparable to the life of Bosch Bulldog SDS-plus bits. Solid carbide tips are embedded in a steel head with robust four-cutter geometry enhancing bit speed and life. The Speed Clean bit, connected to vacuum system, installs adhesive anchors up to 50% faster when compared with the standard hand-cleaning method. A proprietary Bosch design allows dust and debris to be removed through the milled center of the bit.

  1. Hollow drill bit connects to a vacuum system to deliver up to 50% time savings versus the conventional drill-blow-brush-blow anchor-installation method
  1. Faster drilling provides up to 25% greater drilling speed thanks to less dust and reduced friction
  1. Great durability one-piece design offers comparable life to Bosch Bulldog bits
  1. Part of a dust-reduction engineered solution included rubber adapter and bit works with a vacuum system to manage airborne silica dust
  1. Optimized for adhesive anchoring works with Simpson Strong-Tie Set-XP high-strength anchoring adhesive

That's important because if it's not a great drill then the dust collection is irrelevant. I tried it out on some cement blocks and it cut smoothly and quickly with minimum effort. Where it really shines, though, is when you turn on your HEPA dust collector. Very little dust escapes from the tip of the bit and most of that gets sucked up shortly anyway. The hole itself has practically no dust in it due to the suction. I've attached a video that shows just how well the dust extraction works. I paired it up with my HEPA vac and proceeded to drill one hole with the vac off and two with it on. You can see the huge difference. The price is a bit high but if you have a lot of holes to drill this is definitely worth the money. If I were just drilling a few holes I'd probably just have a helper hold a vac by the bit while I drilled. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

I had previously purchased a Bosch Vac for HEPA conformity, and this drill works marvelously with it. After drilling a hole, there is little to no dust or debris left from the operation. It works in the same manner as other rotary drills, and it works a lot faster than I had expected. Having access to machinery tools, I will be able to regrind the carbide tip when it gets dull. They do give a fair amount of carbide on the drill, and you will be able to get quite a few re-grinds off of the drill. This is nice because these drills are not cheap. I would like to have a couple different sizes, and the ability to re-grind makes these drills more of an investment than a disposable. The drill is long. Others have complained about clogging in the drill. I can see where this might be a problem, as there does not seem like athere is a good way to clear. In tighter quarters where I can not warrant the space to have a vacuum, I opt for a shorter drill as well. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Bosch has come out with a new line of dust extraction SDS-Plus Drill Bits to meet strict new OSHA and EPA Guidelines on Dust Generation in the workplace. The 3/4 inch Bosch SpeedClean SDS-Plus Dust Extraction Drill Bit is designed to be connected to a wet/dry vacuum and is perfect for uses indoors or in confined spaces. The performance is on par with standard concrete bits, and virtually no dust is generated. The only limitation is the drill is tethered to a vacuum hose. There is obviously going to be those few locations that you are so limited for space, you need to remove the vacuum hose to have space to work efficiently...this probably contributed to the problem. None-the-less, now I am trying to find a way to clear the bit out but see no way other than trying a TIG wire or hanger wire and ram it up the holes. The problem is that there is no direct line to facilitate clearing out the clog. I am thinking that they should add a bore in the shank of the bit to clear out a clog without impacting the integrity of the shank during impact blows. *original review* [This works quite well at collecting the dust. At 3/4" it really cuts in a hole pretty darn good where I was thinking the dust collection would actually alter the quality slightly to the negative but that was not true. While it will not catch all of the dust especially when initially starting the hole, it will catch a significant amount and works best by backing out for brief moments to suck up the fine dust in the hole. I will say it is a bit wierd having the vacuum attachment on the bit, it makes you want to grab it like a handle but we will see how long they last and if the bit spinning wears out the attachment. The worst part is that it does actually limit the overall depth of the hole you can drill where a standard bit the same length could effectively be plunged the full length exposed where this will stop at the vacuum attachment. The new regulations are going to help control safety so you can go home to your family without respiratory problems due to silica inhalation so that in and of itself is worth losing a few inches of depth in the hole and this product will certainly get you there...I guess I will see how many holes I will get out this as I drill for rebar embedment.]

People in construction either know or should know that in late September, 2017 OSHA’s new rules to control silica dust, and prevent workers from breathing it, go into effect and become enforceable. Bosch has masonry drill bits with internal channels that when attached to a HEPA vacuum collect about 90% of dust from drilling. A good quality dust mask or respirator should still be used. The bits are long and do a nice job drilling in concrete when using a rotatory hammer with an SDS Plus chuck. They won’t work with a regular three jaw chuck hammer drill. These bits are pricey but have solid carbide ends and after drilling a dozen 6 inch deep holes they seem to hold up pretty well. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

While these drill bits are a bit pricier than their regular counterparts, they do a job that none other can. With new OSHA regulations for dust removal becoming more widespread, it makes sense to use a system that works easily, right out of the box. We recently needed to drill lots of holes for concrete anchors that will anchor walls inside an existing structure. Not wanting to get concrete dust everywhere, we gave these a try. This 3/4 inch bit was perfect for setting larger anchors and getting through slabs for running new plumbing. They attach to a standard SDS plus drill (will not work with a regular drill as they need the SDS type chuck!). The rubber boot which comes attached to the bit allows for the hookup of a vacuum. I used a buckethead vac which fits on a 5 gallon bucket, and had no problem getting 90% of the dust sucked up. The dust is drawn through the drill bit itself, by means of a special channel inside the bit. Not only did this make cleanup easier, it also meant that the drilling went faster since there was no dust sitting in the bottom of the hole that needed to be cleaned out. Overall, I would buy these again, and don't think I will go back to regular bits if I can help it. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

This bit system works like a charm and virtually eliminates all dust and debris from drilling. Anyone who has drilled into concrete knows of the fine powder that is created and also how difficult it is to completely remove from the hole. Using compressed air cleans the hole but puts more dust airborne, while a vacuum does not remove all of the dust. This bit system takes care of all that and is very efficient at cleaning out the debris. Great idea and product. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
